Samsung Apps and ServicesSo what camera is everyone looking to move to? I think I'll stay away from Samsung for originally pulling their App and then pushing us to a company that also pulled their App.

Samsung Apps and ServicesBeing as Wisenet has ceased supporting apps for Video Cam models like SNH-V6410PN, what is the recommendation of the Samsung corporation for a replacement OS application (open to any other brand)? I cannot imagine any tech product organization abandoning their product invested customers without an alternative software (theirs or a 3rd parties). Thoughts?

Samsung Apps and ServicesI use Home Assistant to stream my SmartCams. However, I needed to update a setting on one of my existing cameras. Without being able to login to the app I was in a tough spot until I downloaded and modified this powershell script:
https://github.com/GiveMeTheBits/SamCam/blob/main/SamCam-Rest.ps1
Powershell is usually pre-installed on most Windows based PCs.
The script works by sending JSON formatted commands to the camera (no cloud server required). However, if you are not tech savy then this may not help you as you need to edit the script with the details of YOUR camera.
***Please Note***
The above script only updates individual camera settings / configuration but doesn't stream any video, so you need to utilise VLC media player or Home Assistant etc. via rtsp protocol to stream the camera video.
Here is a helpful VLC / RTSP how to article:
https://www.thewindowsclub.com/how-to-play-rtsp-stream-in-vlc-media-player
Here is an example that works on my local camera (using username & password) to stream via VLC:
rtsp://admin:yourpassword@192.168.1.180/profile5/media.smp
In the above example command you will need to replace the username (admin), password (yourpassword), & IP address (192.168.1.180) to your target camera info. The above will not work if you don't.
Hope this helps someone out there who is in the same boat as me.

Samsung Apps and ServicesHi Matt,
Reading your post is the closest I've gotten to fixing my own problem with my SNH-6440BN smartcam. The camera has been hard reset, and I'm trying to connect to it via Synology's Surveillance Station software running on my NAS. I need to enter a username (admin, I'm guessing) and password. So, I'm guessing you have been able to set the password in your own smartcam using the above-linked script in Windows Powershell?
I am tech savvy but I've no experience in Windows PowerShell, and I was wondering how you went about doing this.
Any advice would be hugely appreciated!

Samsung Apps and ServicesHi Dave,
My camera was already setup on my network, so I knew my username / password details before utilising the Powershell script.
The script does allow you to change the password, but you need to be able to login to the camera with it's current username / password in order to change / update with a new password.
Check out this article:
https://www.videoexpertsgroup.com/glossary/samsung-default
I don't know how accurate it is, I merely googled it and had a quick read.
Post back your findings.
Hope this helps.

Samsung Apps and ServicesRight. Understood. It sounds like the Powershell idea isn't going to work for me. I haven't got a password for the camera because it was hard reset. I'm guessing a user defined password was meant to be l entered during the initial set up routine in the now defunct Wisenet app. As this app can no longer be utilized, cameras that have been hard reset are now useless. I'm not 100% certain there isn't a default password assigned following a HR but everything I've tried (including 4321) alongside an "admin" username fails 😢

Samsung Apps and ServicesPassword is not required for ps script, you just leave blank after full reset, but the powershell script doesn't work for me, apparently it has some issues

Samsung Apps and ServicesHi Amir,
What feature were you trying to use with the script because it worked for me when I commented out what I did not use or need.
What errors were returned in the console?

Verry good work but I had to rewrite the entire PowerShell script, as it was to hard to debug on why doesn't work as a whole, some quotations issues and script errors, any way only bits and pieces worked for me, now it has an interactive menu for simpler usage but for me is almost useless since v1.12 doesn't support known rtsp:// url's.
If what was mentioned in original script is valid, then changing password works only from version 1.08 downwards, I have 1.12, so for me it doesn't work, unfortunately.

Samsung Apps and ServicesGuess I must have been lucky and depends on the camera model & current firmware version.
However, the fact remains. Worked for me and possibly others. You lose nothing but time trying...The rest is up to you!
Just trying to help others.
