I installed the one UI 5.1.1 August update today and the Smart View developer options have been removed. I am no longer able to use the S6 Lite as a second screen for my windows laptop. This is EXTREMELY inconvenient. Not sure why that feature would be removed. Can that feature be accessed a different way now?
Well, the fact is it worked. I haven't seen anyone complain it didn't. Whether it was officially supported or not, they had it and they removed it. They could have left it in the developer options. Removing a feature that worked is bad form.
That article is more than 2 years old...before the option was added to the S6 lite. It appears the feature was added with 5.1 and removed with 5.1.1.
This is the face of extreme Capitalism. First they'll provide a feature for Free just to lure in new customers and when the Customers become dependent on that product feature, they'll make it Premium. All these extreme Capitalists will face their Karma when De-dollarization wrecks their evil business or simply get de-platformed.

It's shameful and shameless that a company would take away something that worked so well. I was surprised to find it no longer worked after having used it for so long for work. If there were any "privacy concerns, security concerns, and complexity" issues, as ProUser1 Cosmic Ray stated, then why would they keep it in newer, more expensive devices, specially if it worked so well? I'd be ashamed of making my base service purposefully crappier to make people acquire a more expensive pack. Ridiculous.
Just an FYI, Smart View Developer options is not in my Tab S8U or my Fold 5. For whatever reasons this engineering display apparently was removed from all models.

Calling it an update ,while removing a Smart View function is not an update, that's a downgrade! So Samsung is full of **bleep** when they call it an upgrade and they don't even mention that they've removed the Smart View functionality, they say they've upgraded the quick panel which is a lie!
Its so disappointing that Samsung has been taking away the useful stuff, be it from hardware or software side. The IRIS scanner, the Heartrate sensor, the 10X Optical Lens!! And many more software features.. Taking away some feature doesn't simply make people buy your expensive products, it just makes us look for third-party app that works just as fine. Dumb Samsung developers.
This is annoying as. I have an S6 lite that I used to use to mirror and extend my laptop screen when travelling, acting as a second screen. Trying to do it now and it drove me nuts that it didn't work anymore. Never buying Samsung again
