My father unfortunately passed, and I'm having trouble opening his phone. I've honestly given up hope on unlocking it, bit I'd like to factory reset it. However, when I use the volumvolume button methods to try to reset the phone, when it turns back on it requires the pattern, or my fathers google account. I know his email and password, but because of the 2 step verification, I'm unable to sign in. I just need to erase my fathers phone. Any tips would be appreciated

Because of 2 step verification I can't sign in, it wants me to sign into a secondary email, and that company has sent me in circles. I just got off the phone with Samsung tech support and they refused to do anything without a purchase receipt from 5 years ago.

that's what I did, but when prompted I got a message saying it would require my email and password, I tried to just ignore the prompt and sign in with my familiar account, but it refused it unless I used by dads. I understand wanting to protect customers but it's awful for the family members of the deceased.

I know in settings there's a factory reset option just need password if you tried the side button route give that try in settings

It doesn't let me access the settings anymore because of the prior reset, and the password required is his pattern, which is why I had to reset in the first place. Unfortunately the phone is basically a brick now. I'm going to take it to a local tech place and see if they can break into it.

I'm unsure why, but it seems to just load up the start screen as before sadly. Thank you for helping though
