Samsung messages vs. Google messages

In 2021 I know Samsung replaced their messaging app with Google Messages My Galaxy A13 5G was supposedly released in December 2021 but after purchasing the phone in February 2023 somehow I still have Samsung messages on my phone I've been receiving spam messages in Samsung messages for a while now so is there any way to block spam messages in Samsung messages or should I use Google messages because they have a spam detection feature in the app

You can just disable Samsung Messages. In certain regions after the latest update you can actually uninstall it.

@userGGCC6ora9W To use Google Messages, go to Play store and download Google Messages. Then open Google Messages. You will get a prompt asking if you want to use it as your default messaging app. Confirm the choice. 

Google Messages does have Spam detection and at any time you can flag a message as spam.
