Fold & Flip Phones

Just wanted to bring this up here, so that others can search overheating issues and that they are not alone. The phone worked great for the past year of having it, then with this new update Android version 12 my phone service was spotty and dropping calls or just searching for internet and just last week phone started overheating. When I am using it for a call or browsing the internet or social media, it gets really hot I mean up to 120 degrees Fahrenheit. The screen dims down to 40-50 percent automatically and the longer I use it the faster the battery discharges and dimmer it gets. When it first started I called tech support and while running through procedures for resetting the network and so on the battery went from 40- 20 percent in a matter of minutes. I chatted with tech and they said it wasn't covered, but then I got a follow-up call to send it in but I was traveling and he said I can call in the week after to mail it in. Called up tech support today and got told I was out of luck and take it to local service and it's not covered under warranty. You would think they take the battery overheating issue more seriously after their note 7 recall debacle, but I guess not.

Hello, We understand how frustrating it is when your phone is overheating.

Whether you're using a phone, tablet, smartwatch, or earbuds, all Galaxy devices have a set temperature range, where they operate at their best. While they may feel warm under certain conditions, like charging, this does not affect the device's lifespan or performance. However, if your devices get too warm, it could cause some issues. Give this link a try: https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00076952/ You can also try clearing the cache partition of the phone.

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up key, then press and hold the Side key.
  3. When the green Android logo displays, release all keys ('Installing system update' will show for about 30 - 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  4. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition.
  5. Press Side key to select.
  6. Press the Volume down key to highlight yes, them and press the Side key to select.
  7. When the wipe cache partition is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted.
  8. Press the Side key to restart the device.

A final troubleshooting step would be to factory reset the phone. https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00062029/

If your phone is getting too warm to touch, repairs would be recommended in order to have the technicians evaluate the device.
