Yes, if you pinch the bottom of the bud's handle, you should hear a faint click which mutes what's playing. Pinching again unmutes the earbuds.

It's not a mute, it's a pause. The song doesn't continue to play muted.

Yes, the buds send a pause request to the player, stopping playback. If you want playing to continue silently, you can grab an earbud handle with your thumb and forefinger and slide your thumb gently down the handle to reduce volume. You may have to do this several times though to get the volume all the way down.

Hello, so I tried what you recommended. And that particular action only switches your ambient sound controls.

It just swaps in between the different noise cancellation features, but does not mute the buds. Thanks.
That's sound that you were hearing indicates that you have swapped from ambient sound cancellation and so on, and so forth.

Yes, your only option is to repeatedly lower the volume until the sound is muted.
