I received a text msg from a friend and when i went to check on our conversation from before I noticed it was missing.  I thought it rather odd and stated checking my other messages.  90% of them are missing. I contacted Tmobile who tried troubleshooting and asked me to restore everything from Samsung cloud.  The cloud says I have 24,000 messages. The cloud would only reach 53% of the messages restore which said 217 messages. We must have attempted the restore process at least 10 times to retrieve my messages with no success.  I was then transferred to Samsung Cloud and Samsung  account with the same results. Also my phone sent out random "group chats" to an UNKOWN number of people. I ordered a new s24 ultra with 1TB to attempt to restore  everything.  Why did my phone remove certain texts but still show they are in the cloud? I'm puzzled and very upset! In posting this I just noticed all my Samsung "Keep notes" are also gone. Now I'm more upset.  Thanks

I'm not sure I want to use Smart Switch from the phone.  If there is an issue with the phone that may transfer to the new phone.  I'm thinking there are maybe 2000 text messages not the 24000 it's showing.  I have checked my phone and there are no viruses. Also it only deleted random messages and threads.

Also, you need to lock down your phone first. Sounds like you were hacked. Your keep messages should be kept in secure folder. On your new phone, encrypt it out of the box. It's in Samsung manager, I believe. Before you reinstall anything. Also, get a VPN and set it to always on.

Does your SO or ex SO have or had access to your phone? Sounds like someone doesn't like who you are messaging. An app glitch wouldn't selectively delete specific conversations.

no one has access to it.  It just started acting weird the other day and then random text threads disappeared.

Hello,

I recently switched from a Fold 3 to a Fold 6. When everything was completed, I checked and confirmed all the messages had been transferred. However, a few days later I noticed that a month worth of message had disappeared. What makes matters worse is that these messages were going to be used in a civil litigation case. I've tried restoring the messages from Samsung Cloud, but the messages seem to still be missing. Any support or direction anyone can provide so that these messages can be recovered will be greatly appreciated!

That's exactly what happened to me.  Samsung states that they back things up but there is no way of confirming it.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. My Samsung Message App is missing text messages, separating group text messages, freezing up while receiving, and sending text messages. Not working properly at all.

I'm having the same problem. So far only one contact has deleted all previous text messages and started a new conversation under RCS messages. Is there a glitch with this RCS? Please bring back Samsung Messages app, I was fine with it instead of Google messages app.
