When I turn the phone on It is asking for a pin number which the previous owner does not remember and so I got his google account informationAfter entering in his username and password the phone recognizes that its him however it just keeps going back to the same login screenAny suggestions I can't get out of this loop

@Lisaw07 If you are unable to remove his account from the device, I would return the phone for a replacement.

It was a present for my stepdad. Samsung suggested that I take it to a repair shop down the street from me. I thought I tried the community 1st. Thank you for your feedback

If you want to force a reset without a pin, press and hold the vol up and power button until the phone reboots. Let go of both buttons as soon as you see the Samsung logo. The phone will boot into recovery mode, where you can reset it. After the reset, the phone will be absent any pins, passwords or biometrics. However, if he is not going to be the user, you will have to go into his Samsung and Google accounts and sign out and remove the device from the accounts. You will then be able to set up the device using your own credentials. If he is going to remain the user, you should still remove the device from the accounts (in case the pin is attached to the account), the. Set it up with his credentials again. I suggest writing down the new pin somewhere. If that doesn't help you, then you should try the repair shop option, although I don't know what they can do.

Hello Realaud, I tried doing the factory reset and the phone is still asking for the pin or google account  previously  synced with the phone. Can I delete his account in safe mode?

I don't think so, you would have to log into the accounts from a computer or another device in order to delete the device from the accounts. Is there really no way your stepfather can hazard a guess as to what pin he used?

We tried the pin it didn't work. I'm going to do what you suggested and have him remove the device from his Google account. Thank you for your help. I'll keep you posted.

@Lisaw07 I would return the device to the seller for a refund.
