Galaxy S PhonesWhy is a low volume on the S20 Ultra?
The speaker works fine for phone calls or if I use the headphones, but when I'm trying to listen to media is very low. Is this a software issue? Please help

Galaxy S PhonesFirst I would recommend trying your device in safe mode to see if you still experience these symptoms. If your phone is misbehaving, it's possible that a third-party app is causing the issue. To figure out what app is acting funny, you can use the Safe Mode feature. In Safe Mode, your phone won't run any third-party apps. This allows you to easily identify and remove the app that may be causing the problem.
Give this link a try for safe mode: https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00062983/
Have you tried adjusting the media volume independently:
- Go to settings > sound and vibration > volume > turn the media volume up
Do you have the Media Volume limit turned on?
- Go to settings > sound and vibration > volume > tap the dots in the top right corner > tap on media volume limit > and make sure the media volume limit is set to off
Do you have Dolby Atmos turned on?
- Go to settings > sound and vibration > sound quality and effect > Dolby Atmos
Have you tried playing around with the equalizer on your device?
- Go to settings > sound and vibration > sound quality and effect > equalizer > and chose the setting best for your sound needs
Have you tried to adapt sound setting on your device?
- Go to settings > sound and vibration > sound quality and effect > adapt sound > and chose the setting best for your sound needs
There are a few things that can cause issues with the speaker on your phone. For example, there could be an external device where the audio is being redirected to. It's possible that a software glitch or physical damage is causing the problem.
Give this link a try for some troubleshooting steps regarding the speaker not working on your device: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/troubleshooting/TSG01001255/
Also, I would try wiping the cache partition on your device, give these steps a try:
1. Turn off the device.
2. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby / Power key.
3.When the Android logo displays, release both keys.
An 'Installing system update' message may show briefly before the Android Recovery menu options appear.
4. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight Wipe cache partition.
5. Press Bixby / Power key to select.
6. Press the Volume down key to highlight Yes, then press the Bixby / Power key to select.
When the process is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted.
7. Press the Bixby / Power key to restart the device.
Do you notice that you experience these symptoms with specific apps?
- If you only experience these symptoms with specific apps, I would recommend reaching out to the app developers for further assistance.
If all of the troubleshooting steps above don't resolve the symptoms you would need service on your device. You can take your device to your local UbreakIfix or ship your device in for service.
If you wish to ship your device in for service, can you please provide me with the following information in a private message: http://bit.ly/2JH2rq2
