Samsung Voicemail App is NOT installed ON my phone

I need to install the Samsung Voicemail app on my phone (the little green icon).  I bought an unlocked S21 Ultra 5g (to replace my phone, which was the SAME model).  The Voicemail (*86) is working just fine.  But there is no Samsung Voicemail Icon on the phone.

It is not hidden or locked off my Home Screen.  It does not exist in the App drawer.  My carrier does not provide an app for Android (only iPhone).  This app WAS PRESENT and working on my old Samsung (and every Samsung I have ever pwned).  I did not change carriers.

There is no Samsung Voicemail app available in the Google Play Store.  There is no Samsung Voicemail app available in the Samsung Store.  I have scoured this website, Google, YouTube, and called my carrier.  For whatever reason, this phone was shipped without the app on the phone.

Any solution to reload it?  (I see at least one other user on this Help Forum with the same problem, but no solution was presented.  Do I really have to return this phone???

Well, I appreciate your time.  I know I am not alone, as I have seen the problem described by others, but cannot find a solution.  I never imagined that finding a way to load the app would be so difficult.  So odd.  Perhaps I will try to load another Vmail app to work, or return the phone.  I refuse to go back to 2000-era vmail and live with *86 for too long!

It sounds like your unlocked Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G is missing the Samsung Visual Voicemail app that was pre-installed on your previous device. Since itā€™s an unlocked model, it may not have certain carrier-specific apps.

Possible Solutions:

1. Check if the App is Disabled

Settings > Apps > Tap the three-dot menu (ā‹®) > Show system apps

Search for Voicemail or Samsung Visual Voicemail

If you find it, Enable it and check if the icon appears.

2. Try Samsungā€™s Native Voicemail App

Samsung doesnā€™t list the Voicemail app separately on the Galaxy Store or Play Store. However, some users have reported success by manually installing the APK.

You can try downloading the Samsung Voicemail APK from a trusted site like APKMirror and install it manually:

1. Download Samsung Visual Voicemail APK.

2. Install it (you may need to allow "Install from unknown sources").

3. Restart your phone and check if the app appears.

3. Use the Phone Appā€™s Voicemail

Open Phone App > Three-dot menu > Settings > Voicemail

If your carrier supports it, you may see a Visual Voicemail option there.

4. Carrier-Specific Workarounds

Even if your carrier doesn't have an official Android app, some allow Visual Voicemail through their web portal or via third-party apps (like YouMail or Google Voice).

5. Factory Reset as a Last Resort

If the voicemail app was supposed to be on your phone but somehow didnā€™t install, you might try a factory reset (after backing up your data) to see if it reappears.

If none of these work, you might consider returning the phone if Visual Voicemail is essential for your use. Let me know what worked or if you need help finding the APK!

There are a couple of VVM apps in the Play store, you can download some and see if they work with your carrier.  Even one's that have a carrier name attached to them might work. You will not know until you try.  For what it's worth, none of my Samsung phones ever had a "Samsung Visual Voicemail" app (or any visual voicemail app) on them, so when I hear people talking about Samsung's VVM app missing, I am puzzled.  Who is your carrier?  Do they piggyback on one of the major carrier's network?

For now, I downloaded Youmail from the PlayStore, but perhaps I will try your suggestion with one of the other carrier apps.  That may bea good idea.  My carrier is Visible, an inexpensive, a limited customer service (only $25 a month) provider that is owned by Verizon, I believe.

I guess I've been lucky with my phones.  I've been with Verizon or Visible for decades and I think I have ALWAYS had a Samsung as well, and I have never NOT had that Voicemail App already resident on the phone.

Thanks for your suggestions.

I tried that as well.  No voicemail app appears for me in the Samsung Store.  Do others see a Voicemail app in their store?
