Snapchat "Updating Messages" Notification

Every time I send or receive snaps, I get a separate "Updating Messages" notification that goes away after a few seconds.

I don't have Snapchat, so this may not help, but I had a similar issue with Google Voice. For me, I went to settings > apps > [select Snapchat] > notifications. See if there's an "other" category. Google Voice had a setting for "background tasks" and when I turned that off, that extra notification stopped.

I turned off both silent and quiet notification from the phone settings, and this annoying pop-up is now gone! I'm not sure what else it might have impacted (I'm not sure what the differences in these notifications are) and might have to play around a bit. But so far, with those 2 off and everything else turned on, I'm still getting notifications to lock and home screen with wake text as well. Seems like a good fix for now.
