Hello Everyone,

I noticed that you can change the settings for which apps access photos and videos. Does this permission give the apps permanent access potentially to media even if it were deleted or future access was removed?

@python23 If you delete the media or remove access in the future the apps will no longer have access.

But... if the app grabs a copy of that item while it does have access, then it will always have that copy.

Okay, would this copy be something that legally would need to be accessible by the user or not?

@python23 "Okay, would this copy be something that legally would need to be accessible by the user or not?"

No. Once you share or post something, it is generally free game. They don't have to make it available to you.

If you took the extra steps of copyrighting your work, then it could only be used with your permission.

Okay, so they would only be able to make a copy if media was shared or posted on their app? I guess I'm asking if they would make a copy of media that they have access to through privacy settings like discussed previously?

@python23 Suppose you give someone access to a piece of media and they download it.

-- They can then do whatever they want with their copy of the media. You have no control over it any longer.

Unless you denied the app access to accessing your personal information and limited what they can do with the information they require for whatever app they can do whatever is listed in their privacy settings
