I keep getting a "photos & videos keeps stopping" error when trying to attach a photo to emails. Not sure when this started, perhaps after the recent update.... not sure. Anyone else having this issue? I've tried clearing my galleries cache, force stopping gallery, restarted my phone. Tried installing new gallery apps (I hate them, they all have ads) still no help. No matter what I do or have tried, I still get the error.

Try wiping the "cache partition" to see if that helps. It's safe and won't remove your settings or app files. Clearing the "cache partition" can help resolve any issues caused by old or corrupted system cache data.

Follow the steps below,

Clear the cache partition
- Turn the phone off (shut down)
- Press and hold the Volume Up key, then press and hold the side key.
- When the Android system recovery menu options show release buttons.
- Press the volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition.
- Press the side key to select.
- Press the volume down key to highlight yes, then press the side key to select.
- When the wipe cache partition is complete, Reboot system is now highlighted.
- Press the side key to restart the device.

Furthermore, you shouldn't be getting ads in the gallery. Ads in the Samsung Gallery are often caused by third-party apps that you have installed, which may save cached images or videos in your gallery. Clear the cache of "my files," then clear data in the samsung gallery. MAKE SURE TO BACK UP GALLERY. THIS WILL REMOVE ALL SETTINGS. This procedure has been successful in fixing the issue.

I have the same issue across several apps (every app that use "Photos and Videos" in one way or another (for instance to upload images) on my s22 plus.
I did clean up cache for the "cache partition", "my files" and the gallery, but that didn't help.

Hello all, thanks for reaching out. I can understand how inconvenient it is to have photos & videos stop working constantly. Since clearing the cache partition and the cache on My Files isn't helping, it may be time to try Safe mode, to see if a third-party application is to blame. If it works in Safe mode, uninstall third-party apps until functionality is restored. 

If it behaves the same in Safe mode, it may be time to try a factory reset. Make sure to back up everything beforehand (https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS10002780/) then go for the factory reset: https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS10002030/

For me it stil does not work.
I tried to attach a file/image in the gmail app while phone is in safe mode and I got the same error.

I am not 100% sure, but seems like the issue started after the prevous system update.

The problem is, it's not the my files app, or the gallery app that's crashing. It's the hidden system app "photos and videos"
And the fact that it's hidden also means we can't clear the cache or data!1738804627144.jpg

Exactly!!!!! Recent access it, and I'm pretty sure it started after the most recent software update
