Do iPhone users have to log in or download to view photos from Google photos

When I share albums from Google photos, does the recipient (iPhone users) have to "log in or download" the photos app to view the photos?

They should be able to see it with just the link, no need to download the app or sign in.

Thank you! It used to be as simple as you have shared. But the iPhone users seem to have to log in for some reason.
