Listen, I like Google Messages but I like Samsung Messages better and I would like to know why Google's one is the default? Maybe you can make Samsung the default SMS program in a future update?

No. They just made Google the default. It's pretty much to stay. Doesn't matter just pick samsung and forget it

Samsung messages will most likely be dropped in the next few years as Google is finally putting an effort into a unified messaging program.

If this is true, I'll be very disappointed 😞 if I wanted Google messages I'll get a google product. It's ridiculous how they want to force something on certain people that we don't want.

Android is Google's software so Google does technically have the final say.

You aren't forced to use Google messages, you can set whatever text messaging client you choose

I'm pretty sure that Google messages is better, too. It doesn't show the "so-and-so liked an image" or "so-and-so replied to a message" messages and shows them how they would be seen on iOS.

Coming soon in late September, finally you will be able to send and receive full res pictures and videos, typing indicators, read receipts, reactions from your iPhone friends and family. This will only work with Google Messages by enabling RCS chat features. It will work anywhere in the world over Wifi or Data.

Also coming to Google Messages the ability to edit a text message sent to another android phone as long as your receiptiant has it also turned on.
