About my S24 Ultra adaptive refresh rate

Hi, I've bought a S24 Ultra yesterday, and I'm loving it so far. However, while testing the Adaptive Refresh Rate option, I came across a behavior that I don't know if it's normal.

By enabling the developer options and selecting the option to show my current refresh rate I can see that it is working as intended for most of the time - it goes up to 120hz when I touch the screen, and down to about 24hz when the screen is idle. However, I've noticed that when the screen is in the 24hz refresh rate, it will occasionally go up to 120hz momentarily, then go back down again. This happens about two to three times in a minute.

I thought it could be because of my status bar icons and/or updating, but I've monitored it and that momentary "bump" still happens even if there's no activity on my screen.

I thought maybe the apps I was using was causing this issue, but no, this happens on the Settings apps as well. Also tested disabling multiple third party apps that I use (being Nova Launcher, KLWP and MacroDroid, but it still happens.

My previous phone had Adaptive Refresh rate as well, but only between 60 and 120hz (and it didn't work so well), so it's my first time experiencing this type of refresh rate that can drop bellow 60hz, so I don't know the differences between this type of screen, and a screen that can only alternate between two refresh rates. So maybe it's common for it to be jumping around, even with I user input. I really don't know.

I believe that the cause might lie in the status bar, because if I remove every single icon from the status bar using QuickStar, the refresh rate won't jump to 120hz randomly. Using the "Show view updates" option from Developer Options also corroborates this, as the only things being updated on the screen are the status bar icons. However, if that's the case, it's kind of frustrating, since there's no way (as far as I know) to control the update interval of the signal bars, plus it is jumping to 120hz even when the upload/download arrow indicators from the wifi icon light up.

I have attached a gif bellow showing an example of what's happening. It's a bit sped up, but you can clearly see what I'm talking about.

But what do you guys think? I don't know if this is an issue or if it is designed to work this way. And if it is an issue, how can I fix it?

You can try installing the Samsung Good Guardians app from the Samsung Galaxy Store and then select the battery Guardian, which allows you to manually set standard refresh rates for apps

You're welcome, Within the Samsung Good Guardians battery tool, you can set a standard refresh rate for apps like the calculator and other apps

Yeah I seen what you are talking about but I actually want everything to run 120 all the time. I don't want any app to run less than that

True, but you don't need to run 120 on your contacts or calculator, You won't benefit from the higher refresh rates, and you won't notice a problem with scrolling, You can test the settings, and one benefit is battery life

Well I understand what you mean but I don't use the calculator and I barely go into my contacts and battery life isn't a concern to me tbh

And I don't want to turn it on 60 for any apps. You can't make it 120 for every app or 60. You can only make it 60 for the apps you want to and that's not what I want to do

There are third party apps that can force 120hz all the time, but I don't know if we're allowed to talk about it here.
