Galaxy S24Hi All
I've just got my S24+ today to upgrade my trusty but ageing S10+ having not strayed from Samsung for almost 10 years. Naturally I was hoping it would be an upgrade in all departments but although on the whole it is, there's several annoying and unexpected downgrades that are making me seriously question whether it's actually worth spending quite a bit of money to change.
Firstly, the screen although pin sharp is really washed out. Even in vivid mode the colours are dull and the blacks are significantly more grey than the S10 screen, and even look washed out when put alongside my wife's budget spec A52! I've played around with brightness and colour tone etc but I can't dial it out, and my cousin who's got an S24 Ultra said exactly the same when comparing it against the S22 it's replacing.
Then there's some bizarre features missing from OneUI 6.1, the ones I've noticed so far are specifically in the Always On Display settings. I use AOD to display as a bedside clock, with my S10 and also in OneUI 6.0 / Android 14 on the A52 you can rotate the AOD to landscape orientation and control the brightness, you could even do the latter from the AOD lock screen by tapping twice on the clock to access the brightness slider. In OneUI 6.1 unless I'm missing something it seems all that functionality is missing, the brightness of the AOD is linked to the main screen brightness setting which is far too bright for overnight use, and you can't set it to landscape mode which I'd prefer when on it's horizontal night stand next to the bed. Why this functionality would be omitted I have no idea, but it's really annoying! Please someone enlighten me to some hidden menu somewhere that fixes all these issues?! 🙂

Galaxy S24I feel duped. I upgraded from my S10+, which I loved to the S24 Ultra. The colors are very dull. The super slo mo is gone. I wish I would have turned it on and played around with it before I put a screen protector on it as I wouldn't keep it had I known. Samsung claimed this was a world class display but I think the colors on the Galaxy S (the first ever released Galaxy phone) were better. I have side by side pictures to support that claim. I have an S1, S4, S7 and 10+ that all look better than the S24 Ultra. For the flagship supposedly top dog phone, it disappoints.

Galaxy S24I felt the same way. Had one family member come from a note 10+, another from s10+ and me from an s22+. In all 3 cases it the old device screens were much more vibrant in color and better contrast too.
Get this, for our trade ins we found Verizon would take ANY galaxy phone so I got out an old s3, note 4, and stratosphere. Even those 12 or 15 yr old devices screens were more vibrant in color than the new s24s.... Crazy!

Galaxy S24They have stupid things to do Like the last ugly emoji, I did not accept it. I used the Z font 3 program to return the old version I don't know how to adopt such thies emojis
They do bad things that they don't know affect their less experienced or new customers
They really need to improve things but the truth is I love Galaxy devices and the way they navigate bar is great And the features they offer
But the issue of Display quality really hurts me
I am a person who loves displays, and it is my weakness in the upgrade options for phones, and the feature I looked forward to the most was the increased brightness in the S24 Ultra, and the brightness really increased.
But I also love the color accuracy and gamma accuracy. I kind of ignored the matter to lower the color saturation in the S23 Ultra. I hoped they would fix the problem in the S24 Ultra. And whether the problem is in my unit, but I discovered that Samsung has a tendency to raise the gamma and lose color saturation every year. I use the Natural mode. The New is vivid Mode changed and everyone felt the problem, so I was happy because I was suffering alone now I said that he could hear my voice
I am a person who very much respects a company that cares about accuracy
I have loved the Android system, which has great capabilities, for a long time
I've been a Galaxy user since the S4 I mean, 14 years ago
But I cannot tolerate this situation. Why would I accept a lower quality Display that loses color saturation since I felt this problem until today?
So, after all these years, I decide to buy an iPhone 15 Pro Max to supplement what is missing in Galaxy devices and use it for some programs while I keep my Galaxy.
Why do I see a faded Display that does not represent the reference and is not accurate, and the content differs from the intent of the content publisher?
Samsung always has problems with Display color accuracy
All they have to do is use a gamma reference of 2.2 instead of raising the gamma of 1.9 or 1.8 to make the image dull.
Yes, I mean even their Natural mode is inaccurate and has problems with color saturation due to their methods
So I will have to use the iPhone because Apple values accuracy like some Japanese TV companies like Panasonic and Sony who have reference Display and have a greater appreciation for the creative intent of the director and do not have children playing with the Display to feel special and different while they are not that, rather backward.
I will not transfer my data because I want this to be temporary. It is unfortunate that I have to do so
In certain sectors at Samsung where inexperienced people don't get involved, they have good products like the Soundbar
The Display influences the choice, and it is certain that if they use these methods in the Tv sector, they will mock some of their customers, as in the case of phones.
They have already lost a lot now with Galaxy phones, as it has become an issue for all users of Galaxy phones in vivid or Natural mode, except for the few who use Natural mode and think those colors look natural or who do not care much about this issue.
Apple is a company that cares about color accuracy, and I am familiar with YouTube reviews from professionals who are not just Fanboys. Why do its screen colors appear more saturated
Samsung doesn't know what it's doing. It just wanted you to enjoy colors that are harmless to the eye, natural, and with balanced saturation. But the truth that some people don't know about Samsung is that their Natural mode is bad and loses saturation, not like competing companies.
I don't know if whoever did this really wanted to spoil the Display, or whether he was just inexperienced and wanted to dilute the colors.
I do not know if my words can be effective and bring about change, and that change may take years
They must choose loyal customers who serve Samsung's interest in developing their company, not people with little experience who seek to put the company in this position with such this topic.

Galaxy S24I also knew that iPhones are always brighter in SDR for most of the phone’s content, but what made me patient is that Samsung improves this point every year, but the dull colors observed in newer versions are unacceptable, especially in the S24U.

Galaxy S24it’s shame that the display is absolutely messed up because the quality and the design of the s24u is just absolutely beautiful.
It’s also a shame that Samsung is ignoring this. My brother got an iPhone 15 pro max from a carrier and his unit was defective, and had already traded in his old device to Verizon. So getting his old device back probably impossible.
well he went to the Apple Store and in under 30 minutes apple simply gave him a brand new replacement and that was it. Samsung customer support really sucks

Galaxy S24Just got my s24 ultra and what is going on with the "more natural" screen?! Samsung you should revert to the vivid vibrant screen colours. After a side by side comparison with S22ultra there is a big difference.

Galaxy S24The colors aren't even more natural. I've tested my phone against my high end photography monitor (calibrated once a month) and the colors of this thing are way off. Gamma is too high on the S24 on any saturation is much too low.
There's nothing "natural" about this display in any of the provided modes. My S20 in "vivid" mode is a bit oversaturated but much closer to my reference display than this thing, plus it's nice to look at. There's no way this display was tuned by pros, it looks awful. Samsung needs to just take the L and revert it back to the previous generation options and maybe hire someone that knows what they're doing to come up with the natural color profile for people that want color accuracy.

Galaxy S24Hi all
I've just received my s24 ultra 1tb yellow colour this afternoon.
The screen display is exactly the same as my S23 Ultra.
Camera photos are also similar or even better than my S23 Ultra
The phone was set on VVividas standard and when I changed it to Natural and vice versa, it works as how it should. Can see the differences when I switched between these 2 settings.
Think Samung has fixed it with new batch of S24 Ultra ?

Galaxy S24this.. definitely the Vivid and Natural options work. The screen display changes everytime.
