Galaxy S24Hi All
I've just got my S24+ today to upgrade my trusty but ageing S10+ having not strayed from Samsung for almost 10 years. Naturally I was hoping it would be an upgrade in all departments but although on the whole it is, there's several annoying and unexpected downgrades that are making me seriously question whether it's actually worth spending quite a bit of money to change.
Firstly, the screen although pin sharp is really washed out. Even in vivid mode the colours are dull and the blacks are significantly more grey than the S10 screen, and even look washed out when put alongside my wife's budget spec A52! I've played around with brightness and colour tone etc but I can't dial it out, and my cousin who's got an S24 Ultra said exactly the same when comparing it against the S22 it's replacing.
Then there's some bizarre features missing from OneUI 6.1, the ones I've noticed so far are specifically in the Always On Display settings. I use AOD to display as a bedside clock, with my S10 and also in OneUI 6.0 / Android 14 on the A52 you can rotate the AOD to landscape orientation and control the brightness, you could even do the latter from the AOD lock screen by tapping twice on the clock to access the brightness slider. In OneUI 6.1 unless I'm missing something it seems all that functionality is missing, the brightness of the AOD is linked to the main screen brightness setting which is far too bright for overnight use, and you can't set it to landscape mode which I'd prefer when on it's horizontal night stand next to the bed. Why this functionality would be omitted I have no idea, but it's really annoying! Please someone enlighten me to some hidden menu somewhere that fixes all these issues?! š

Galaxy S24I'm quite disappointed with my 512GB S24 Ultra compared to the older model. The picture quality isn't great ā it's grainy and lacks contrast. Even the vivid mode doesn't work properly. I'm thinking about going back to my S23 Ultra; it seems better in comparison.
Firstly, the picture quality on the S24 Ultra has left much to be desired. I've noticed a significant graininess in the images, which was not an issue with the S23 Ultra. The sharpness and clarity I expected from an upgrade are simply not present, and this has been a major letdown.
Moreover, the contrast levels on the S24 Ultra appear to be lacking. Colors don't pop as they should, and the overall visual experience is somewhat dull when compared to the vibrant and vivid display of the S23 Ultra. This deficiency in contrast affects not only media consumption but also the overall usability of the device.
One of the most disappointing aspects has been the complete inoperability of the vivid mode on the S24 Ultra. This feature was one of the selling points and was expected to enhance the viewing experience. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to function as intended, leaving me with a device that falls short of my expectations.
Given these issues, I'm seriously contemplating going back to my trusty S23 Ultra. It provided a superior visual experience with no such picture quality or mode operation concerns. As a dedicated user and someone who relies on their smartphone for various tasks, I expected a notable upgrade with the S24 Ultra, but it has left me somewhat dissatisfied.

Galaxy S24I also have this awful yellow tint and very grainy look on all my pictures and videos. I have it set to normal not warm tone. I just got S24 Ultra today and I am not happy at all with these super dull colors. Pictures and videos look soooo grainy and not lit well, white balance is off in automatic mode. I'm reading through all these comments and searching on You Tube to try and fix this. Super disappointed as I didn't get the S23 and its not in stock anymore. Might have to return this S24 and switch to Apple. Have always been an Android/ PC girl but got this specifically for Video and Picture content creation. Super disappointed.
