Galaxy S24Hi All
I've just got my S24+ today to upgrade my trusty but ageing S10+ having not strayed from Samsung for almost 10 years. Naturally I was hoping it would be an upgrade in all departments but although on the whole it is, there's several annoying and unexpected downgrades that are making me seriously question whether it's actually worth spending quite a bit of money to change.
Firstly, the screen although pin sharp is really washed out. Even in vivid mode the colours are dull and the blacks are significantly more grey than the S10 screen, and even look washed out when put alongside my wife's budget spec A52! I've played around with brightness and colour tone etc but I can't dial it out, and my cousin who's got an S24 Ultra said exactly the same when comparing it against the S22 it's replacing.
Then there's some bizarre features missing from OneUI 6.1, the ones I've noticed so far are specifically in the Always On Display settings. I use AOD to display as a bedside clock, with my S10 and also in OneUI 6.0 / Android 14 on the A52 you can rotate the AOD to landscape orientation and control the brightness, you could even do the latter from the AOD lock screen by tapping twice on the clock to access the brightness slider. In OneUI 6.1 unless I'm missing something it seems all that functionality is missing, the brightness of the AOD is linked to the main screen brightness setting which is far too bright for overnight use, and you can't set it to landscape mode which I'd prefer when on it's horizontal night stand next to the bed. Why this functionality would be omitted I have no idea, but it's really annoying! Please someone enlighten me to some hidden menu somewhere that fixes all these issues?! š

Galaxy S24Returning mine, I'm done with this k-drama. t-mobile is waiving the rma fee. I'm getting the Pixel Pro 8 512GB instead. Check out your options at your local store, the Pixel Pro 8 has a brilliant display out of the box.

Galaxy S24If there's no official word from Samsung by Monday on the color, grains, and diagonal line issue I'm going to start my return.

Galaxy S24I have this exact same issue with the colors very washed out "Vivid" mode. Vivid is practically identical to Natural mode. My screen looks so pale and dull in comparison to my S22 Ultra. They also messed up the Always on Display and I no longer get color icon notifications. Where's the update to fix this Samsung?? Terrible launch. I've also just now started having a random issue where the phone doesn't charge. I tried multiple chargers thinking it was the power brick or USB-C cable. Nope, turns out the S24 Ultra decided to just stop charging either wired or wirelessly. I had to restart the phone and then it started working again. It looks like this is also a widespread issue. In the last 15 years that I've been a Galaxy user, this is by far the worst launch. I've always been a Samsung guy but this is really making me consider Iphone 15 Pro Max.

Galaxy S24@SamsungJustin This is not an acceptable "Solution".
"The Galaxy S24 series' display is carefully tuned for a comfortable, quality viewing experience. We offer many advanced display settings."
Seriously? So you can completely botch a color palette and just blame it on you guys doing it on purpose because it's "easier on the eyes". A classic case of the "It's not broken, it's a feature". Yeah, I am not ok with this garbage color pallete. The entire purpose why i own Samsung phones is for their AMOLED displays which are supposed to be VIBRANT. That is like buying a Ferarri to only drive 35 MPH the entire time that you own it. There's no point in owning a Samsung anymore.

Galaxy S24We do not want the comfort that @SamsungJustin he claims. The problem is that even the Natural mode loses saturation and is inaccurate, so this is a completely unacceptable And unjustified
The problem is easy. Why do they make it difficult? Why donāt they solve it and let us enjoy the experience of our phones and not think about abandoning them because of this problem
Would they be satisfied with returning their phones and thinking about moving to other phones because of such a ridiculous problem? Doesn't Samsung aspire to progress or does it want to lose its customers and be with the losing companies?
