Samsung has been in the phone industry and have been giants in it to long to be dependent on Google. It's time for their own OS for all phones. Google is taking too much control in my opinion. How do yall feel?

Google is taking too much control? Google owns android, and has since 2005, so yea. They own the control LOL

Also, u mean OS. iOS is Apple.

Thanks for the correction. But control in terms of what is used on certain devices. Ex. Samsung Messages being obsoletel because of the Google messages. I could understand if that it was the pixel series because it's their product but to pretty much make Google messages primary for all devices that have android is wild

Google has been laughed at since the beginning for not having a unified messaging client. Remember the short lived Allo?

Google is finally bringing unification to messaging.

You don't have to use Google messages but you want to be an outlier and not use RCS you are more than welcome to use one of the hundreds of messaging applications on the play store

You right. So work with each phone brand and have RCS features on their native message app as an option for those who would rather use those apps instead of making your app they mandatory option for those features. Android is all about options and customization right. We'll don't all of a sudden force something like that on everyone

The Google messages Samsung is using is a Samsung modified version.

A lott of android is forced behind Google Play store certification. 1729265888830.jpg

Until Google releases the API for RCS, Google messages is the only application that supports rcs

The choice is yours you just lose that

No, it's not. We've been through this before. Tizen failed. Windows phone failed. Android on windows failed. Jolla failed. FirefoxOS failed. WebOS failed. FireOS failed.
This market will not sustain a third member. Developers, even those working for zillion dollar corporations, will not support a third market, even if incentives exist and the added workload is minimal. Users will not migrate to an unknown OS without the apps they want. No one wants to build out an OS with modern features expected by the users when android is right there.

If samsung tried to force everyone onto a new OS without the apps people expect and demand, samsung would be out of the market in less than two generations.

The problem is the fear of Google turning every phone that has android into Pixels pretty much. A line must be drawn at some point to where Samsung phones still have their identity and aren't just Google phones with Samsung name slapped on the back of them

@driek I have both an S24U and a Pixel 9ProXl, there is absolutely nothing similar about Samsung's android skin, One Ui and the Google Pixel's stock Material You. I do prefer Samsung One Ui over Google's Material You. The level of customization is leaps and bounds much better, especially if you use Goodlock modules.

This is all about Samsung Messages becoming obsolete isn't it?
