Hello

The OK 'button' is present but not active when I try to enter my PIN to unlock my phone. I haven't changed my PIN but my phone will not unlock.

I have also got my fingerprint stored but the phone is saying that if the phone has been restarted or after 72 hours the PIN has to be used to unlock the phone.

I cannot turn my phone off or do anything without the phone accepting my PIN.

Please help

If you hold volume down and power button together for a short while, you should see the shut down menu

Even with the phone locked, you should be able to swipe down from the top of your lock screen to see the power off icon.  Swipe all the way down into the entire quick settings panel and on the upper right (between the edit pencil and the settings gear) is the power button.

I could see that but it wouldn't allow me to turn the phone off without entering my PIN which the phone was refusing to accept. I could restart the phone by pressing the power key and the volume down key together. Restarting the phone didn't help sadly.

Thank you to those that responded. I am GrannyBerd but can't seem to respond individually to those that tried to assist. I've had to do a hard reset on my phone and am now having set up my phone once again.

You could restore your backup.

I did restore the backup but still had to sign in again on all the apps and had to redo all the customised ring tones. Time consuming and irritating.

Yes, thats what happens when you restore a backup. Backups are not stored with sign in info for security reasons. It's why you can reset a phone when you firget your password, as it's the only way to reset your login credentials. I dont think it's time consuming to sign into apps again, because i only sign in when I first use an app after restore. I don't go through every app and sign in again. Since I only assign custom ringtones to a very small number of contacts, its not a big deal to me. Although, I did notice on my last restore all my custom sounds remained as assigned. It's less time consuming all around to not set a password and then forget it.

This sucks dude, same thing happened to my mom. Happened twice so samsung needs to quit slacking. This is like a Device destroying bug. If I have to reset the phone every few days I'm gonna have to switch to a pixel or something

Oh and if you have a finger print set up, it won't let you use it. So there is truly no way to get into the phone
