@jamaal02 I wouldn't think so but I usually wear my watch on the left wrist so I haven't tried it anywhere else.

You do not. Either wrist will work. I have always worn my watch on my right wrist and have received the irregular heartbeat notification.

Either wrist will work, during the watch set up you had to tell it what hand you're using
