Why can't I send or receive texts when my phone is turned off?? I have a galaxy watch 6 classic and a fold 5. I a cannot send or receive texts messages when my phone is turned off. I have tried Samsung messaging app and Google Messaging app. Either works. I have had older model watches 3, 4 and 5. All LTE through At&t. They all worked fine in this situation. So I don't understand why Samsung would take this option away for for it's latest devices!!! They need to fix this ASAP!!!

I feel your pain.  I had no problem with my LTE service on my Watch 4, voice or text, until I paired it with my new phone.  As with you, I was on the phone quite a while with the T-Mobile tech people (not CS, they can't help with anything) and I don't believe it was solved. I can get calls, but I believe I still can't get texts (I haven't gotten any texts while w/o my phone, so I don't know for sure), and when disengaged from my phone the battery life is non-existent, so is useless anyway.  Since I'm never very far from my phone these days, the point is moot right now, but I am considering dropping the watch line, and then picking it up again when T-Mobile is giving away watches for adding a new line (and when I'm ready for a new watch).  I don't like paying for something I'm not using either.

My watch4 connects to the phone for calls only now. Itvjo longer allows messaging. Notifications are on, but nothing. This happened within the last few weeks. What can I do?

Like many others, I have an issue sending or receiving ANY texts on ANY messaging app from my Galaxy 6 LTE watch (on Google Fi) independent of my phone. This includes when my phone is off or when my phone's bluetooth is off. It will make calls, so the LTE is working. But no texts can be sent or received. I have "Remote Connection" on in Wearables Advanced Settings. My watch shows as connected in the Wearables App. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this very frustrating issue? What good is having LTE on the watch if you are unable to text on it without your phone? Maddening, outdated tech if this is impossible.

I have the exact same problem with my Galaxy Watch 6 Classic LTE also on Google Fi. I complained to their tech support, which was a waste of time. Both Samsung & Google Fi say on their websites that no phone is needed for the Galaxy LTE watches to send and receive texts, but then in a following paragraph, it's stated that standalone texting by the watches, may not work. It's unbelievable that you pay extra for LTE, and it may not work as expected, and their customers are supposed to just accept this. No one has explained to me why this is or if anything can be done about it.

Same problem with Galaxy Watch 7 LTE.  Voice and data work, but can't send SMS if the phone is out of service.  I just want to use the watch's phone number to send SMS, but both messaging apps say "Can't send".

I'm using a standalone cell plan for the watch with its own number.

Text issues are always the provenance of the carrier.  Sometimes the watches, because of the number pairing, have trouble with texts independent of the phone. You have to contact the tech support department (not customer service) of your carrier to troubleshoot/fix this problem.
