Why in the world would you take away the ability to back up our watches manually in the Wearable app? Make it make sense, I have to wait for what is now "PERIODICALLY" to back up my watch, how often is periodically? If you switch to store backups to Samsung Cloud, how does that work, when does that happen?

If anyone knows the answer please let me know!

This is absolutely stupid.

The ability to manually backup your watch was working.

Lat backup was in June for my 5 Pro. Samsung.  We expect your company to make sure these things work for the price we pay to be in your ecosystem.    Smart Switch has been installed since I got my Fold 4 last year.

A number of months and you backup doesn't even work reliably per the people here reporting the same. thing.

I have a watch 4 classic, a new watch 6 classic, and my wife has a watch 5. None of them have any backups. Watch 4 stopped backing up after update to new UI. The other 2 have never backed up since new. There is no longer a way to do a manual backup. I had to set up my watch 6 from scratch since I have no watch 4 backups. We are both on Samsung phones, S22 Ultra and S23 Ultra. Samsung needs to tell us what the issue is and fix it.

Also, the Samsung Health app will sync all your health data to your Samsung account if enabled in the app settings.

Update. I changed battery settings for Smartswitch and Smart things to unrestricted on the phone and my watch 6 backed up last night! Not sure if only one or both apps need unrestricted battery so I will just leave both set that way.

This really was a ridiculous decision. I keep getting notifications that my watch hasn’t been backed up in more than 7 days, the last backup was Sept 27th, and there’s no reason why it shouldn’t have already automatically backed up yet. I have a Samsung S23 Ultra and Smart Switch is installed. Neither of my device batteries go below 30%, I charge my phone every night, my watch every other night, and both are almost always connected to wifi and each other. Since I can’t manually back it up, I’m stuck without a backup since apparently I’m missing something in the magical combination.

Buyer beware..Samsung wearable backup and restore is a mess with their latest One UI update. My Watch 5 Pro says it backed up automatically at some random time. Now the scary part. Trying to restore the backup to another Watch 5 Pro (because my current watch is grossly inaccurate tracking activity) only allows picking a backup from a month ago.

They have removed the capability for you to do a backup on demand. This capability needs to be put back for the users !

Eveyone should be up in arms with these changes and the resulting lavk of performance and quality.

So far, support has be passing the buck with no resolution.

I just checked on my Wearable app and see what you're saying. We should have the ability to manually backup.

Guys I have a Samsung galaxy watch 5 Pro and have the latest software installed I'm moving over to a galaxy watch 6 and wanted to back up my watch 5 pro data. I've watched YouTube I've looked at Samsung I've looked at various websites they all tell me to go to "about phone" " and then obviously back up watch there's no feature in the galaxy wear software for this for me. I can't manually force a back up ? there's no option other than just swiping on off for  Samsung cloud as a tick box but it doesn't allow me to back up the watch manually??

Is obviously very incredibly frustrating because I want to move the data over to the new watch so hoping someone can explain what's wrong or is it a software bug

I believe OneUI5 went to automatic backup using SmartSwitch (at least that's what now happens on my Active4). Happens in the wee hours of the morning. So if you have that enabled, and going to Samsung Cloud, you should have a backup every 24 hours or so. But no longer any way to do it manually. My backing up has been performing well, but haven't tried to do a restore or switch to a new watch. There are threads in this forum addressing issues other are having.
