Home TheaterI had not used this soundbar for a few months. Bought an LG TV. I put new batteries in the soundbar remote and tried to hook it up to the TV. No luck. Soundbar turns on, but that's it. It was working fine with the previous Samsung TV.
I downloaded the firmware, but it will not open because "unable to expand "HMS-S40TWWB-1111.0.bin". It is in an unsupported format."
Any ideas? I'm using a MacBook Pro laptop.

Home TheaterI would be mistaken to make the assumption you purchased the US model. Please understand that with Amazon and other Online Retailers. Products manufactured for North America includes Canada, and the United States.

Home TheaterModel number is HW-S40T. I bought it from Target 2 years ago. I think the soundbar is toast, however, because I can't connect it to my TV via Bluetooth either. Or is that a function of the firmware not being updated also?

Home TheaterNo, the issue was that Samsung does not support Mac OS for its firmware. I could not even open the downloaded firmware file, much less transfer it via USB to the Samsung soundbar.
Regardless, I went out and bought an LG soundbar. Can't tell you how easy it was to set up.
Plug the soundbar into power, plug in optical cable, set the sound bar as sound source, and voila! Works perfectly.
But thanks for your help. You can't be held responsible for the fact that Samsung doesn't support Macs.
Take care,
