If your Samsung TV fails to connect to your home Wi-Fi router but works with other Wi-Fi networks (e.g. Mobile Hotspots), follow these steps to resolve the issue.

1. Verify Wi-Fi Connectivity:

Check if other devices are able to connect to the home Wi-Fi network.

2. Test Hotspot Connectivity:

Confirm whether the TV connects to a mobile hotspot. If it does, the issue may be related to the router settings. (It did in my case)

3. Access Network Status:

On your TV, go to All Settings > Connection > Network > Network Status to identify connection errors. In my case the error was related to Automatic Setting of IP address.

4. Switch to Manual IP Configuration:

If the error is related to automatic IP settings:

Go to IP Settings in the network menu.

Enter the IP address manually. Assign a unique IP within your routerā€™s range (e.g., 192.168.1.x).

5. Set Default Gateway:

Use the same default gateway as your other devices (typically your router's IP, e.g., 192.168.1.1).

6. Set DNS:

Manually set the DNS to 8.8.8.8 or to the IP address of your router (e.g. 192.168.1.1)

7. Verify DNS Settings of Your Router:

Verify that the Primary DNS of your router is set & DHCP is enabledIf the router allows, configure the Alternate DNS to 8.8.8.8 (Google DNS).

8. Restart the Connection Process:

Re-enter the Wi-Fi password on the TV without resetting any other network settings.

Hi,

I've tried this and I've reset my tv to factory settings and it is not working but is connecting to hotspot off my phone.  Is there anything else I can try please?

Thanks

@nseaton

Can you please provide the following?

  • Picture of "Network Status" (Step 3) after you've entered password & TV failed to connect to WiFi.
  • Picture of Manual IP settings that you did.
  • Picture of your router's DHCP IP ranges and Preferred DNS.
