yesterday in
LED and OLED TVsI purchased a new OLED tv but am unable to get the remote to communicate with the TV. The remote was fully charged , reset by holding the return and select button down, the TV was plugged in showing the initial set up page. Pairing was attempted by holding down the return and pause button holding them waiting for a pairing message but nothing happens. None of the buttons on the remote has any effect. Using my iPhone I verified that both the tv and the remote were transmitting a bluetooth signal and was able to pair both to my phone. . I then shut off the bluetooth on the phone. power cycled the TV removed all other remotes from the area and did the procedure multiple times to no effect. I contacted Samsung support and we went with through the procedures multiple times and I was told to return the TV to the store, which I did exchanging it for another one.
The second TV behaved just as the first one did. Another helpful support person and I went through all the steps again, and again was told to the the TV back to the store. As I really wanted that TV for the excellent picture and the perfect size for my cabinet, I went to a different store and found the same TV that was made least 5000 units before the first two thinking that had a bad batch of TVs with a manufacturing defect perhaps this third TV would not have the defect. No luck. It's hard to believe that Samsung would be rolling thousand of defective TVs off the line, especially as I found nothing on line describing this issue by others for this model. But we can't explain the lack of communication with the remote. Controlling the TV with a smart phone in not an option as you have to first select that option, with the remote. Any thoughts anyone?
