Hello,

I recently purchased a Samsung - 55" Class (54.6" Diag.) - LED - 2160p - Smart - 4K Ultra HD TV, and now that I have had it a few days, I am noticing that the sound pops every couple minutes or so. It makes no difference weather the volume is higher or lower it still pops, but the intensity of the pop does change with the volume. (Quiet pop/crackle when on a lower volume)  is there anyone who could give me advice on what to do, or maybe someone has had the same problem and has solved it?

Hi everyone,

I too am having audio issues with my 2 month old ue55mu7000 (mu8000 in the US).

I have a PS4, blu ray player, and cable tv box connected to the 'one-connect' box all via HDMI (all 2.0 compliant cables). I have an optical cable from the 'one-connect' box to feed audio to my Hi-Fi via a DAC.

I am getting frequent audio distortions with the PS4 and blu ray player: several times each minute there will be an audible pop or crackle, followed by 1 - 2 seconds where the volume dips considerably. This is coming from my external speakers so is not due to thermal expansion or any physical effects as has been mentioned above.

I have tried changing the output from the PS4 and blu ray to PCM (and subsequently changed the incoming signal on the TV to expect PCM) and vice versa with bitstreaming from the sources to allow the TV to do the decoding: the problem is equally prevalent in both. Oddly, I have never noticed the issue from the cable tv box.

If I connect the source components directly to the DAC there are no issues which suggests it is not the DAC itself or Hi-Fi. But the DAC only has one optical input meaning I have to keep swapping for each source. It also means I can't make use of the TV's audio delay features which is sometimes necessary.

I have taken some videos with the links posted below. I have highlighted the times in the video description where the audio issues present themselves.

Please help, this is the first time I've treated myself to a new tv in years and it is disappointing this is happening!

For all you people in the UK with the popping sound problem on the Q7F, If you download the latest firmware (1240.7) that will cure the problem. I installed it on my UE65Q7F on the 20th and it’s the 23rd now and I’m snap, crackle and pop free and before the update The sound was popping at least once a day sometimes many many times more.

I hope for everybody that try’s it with the same problem that it works for you like it did for me.

good luck everybody 😊

Steve4 go to the uk Samsung website and download and install the latest firmware for your tv and see if that sorts it out for you. Your problems are the same as mine were on my Q7F and update 1240.7 corrected the problem for me.
Give it a try buddy

Ah thanks man! Didn't realise there was a new update, feel like I checked that just the other day, but I'm defintely on 1230 and not 1240 - Will definitely try that and report back. You've gave me hope!

Glad it sorted your tv for you (nice tv too).

I always thought it was a software bug myself but Samsung and Hughes both insisted it was a hardware fault with my tv and even went to the trouble of replacing the unit only for the replacement to do exactly the same thing but the second I installed 1240.7 on my tv the popping stoped and hasn’t returned. It was released on the 20th so it’s a new one. I’ve got my fingers crossed for you buddy so please do let me know how it goes. 🙂

I had already returned a unit to John Lewis because of a line of flickering pixels along the top edge of the tv. Thankfully I managed to capture it on video and to be fair they were brilliant in organising a replacement, so much so I graciously denied their gesture of goodwill.

I hoped it was a software issue just given the nature of the problem and the fact it didnt occur whilst watching through Virgin box or any of the built in apps.

Will definitely let you know how it goes. Congratulations on an awesome tv again - quantum dot is the next upgrade -after another 10 years 🙂

Alas the software update 1240.7 hasn't fixed the audio issues - if anything they appear more prominent! 😞

Was really hoping that after hearing you had the same audio issues the update fixed yours all would be well. At least Samsung seem to be rolling out updates fairly frequently, hopefully they see this and see that the lastest firmware hasn't fixed the issue for all tvs....

Yes it's very disappointing to continue to have the popping after all of these firmware updates. I'm wondering if it is a hardware issue instead of a software issue,  since I've exchanged the tv and both popped.

Sorry to hear that mate, unless it’s a total fluke and I’ve just missed the pops myself it’s now been 6 days since I updated and last heard it happen. It’s seemed to of solved the problem for me on my uk Q7F.

Have you tried getting in touch with Samsung and hassling them about it so maybe then they will do something about your model and fix it too?

Has anybody else in the uk with a Q7F and the popping sound problem installed 1240.7 and found it to solve the problem like it has for me?

Although I don't think that the firmware is the cause, I can only hope. Are there any firmware updates in the works for the NU8000?
