Hello.

Looks like I just fell into the same Remote ‘flashing red, not pairing, not available, tv turning on by itself in the middle of the night’ black hole I’ve seen posted about.  How frustrating!  I have read through the posts and tried everything, yet i cannot get any of the functions to work.  Everything has worked perfectly for over a year.  I’m so confused, please help.

I have UN65KS9500FXZA.

Have you tried the above solution in the thread? Also, Can you try the following:

Check to see if the remote is sending an IR signal.

  • Get either a digital camera or use the camera on your phone or tablet. Point the remote at the camera, and then press and hold the Power button on the remote. As you hold the button down, look at the camera's screen. If the remote is sending an IR signal, you will see a colored light coming from the remote control.
  • If you do not see the IR light, replace the batteries with fresh ones and try again. If you still do not see the IR light, replace the remote.
  • If your remote is not a Smart Remote, and you see the IR light, turn your TV on using the control on the TV directly, and then try again to control the TV by pointing the remote directly at the Samsung logo.

If you have a Smart Remote, try to pair it with the TV.

Press and hold Return and Play/Pause simultaneously for at least 3 seconds until a message appears on your TV indicating that the remote is now connected.

If the remote will not pair, get your phone out again (or another similar Bluetooth device) and navigate to its Bluetooth menu. (On many phones you can swipe down to open the navigation bar, then touch and hold the Bluetooth icon to open its menu.) Look for your TV on the list of available devices.

  • If other devices like your phone can see the TV as an available Bluetooth device, then your Smart Remote is not functioning correctly. Replace the Smart Remote. If you're in warranty, contact 1-800-Samsung for a replacement, or you can purchase one from samsungparts.com.
  • If other devices like your phone cannot see the TV, the TV requires service.

* Use the following link to find a list of service centers near you that can do the repair http://www.samsung.com/us/support/service/location.

This is the only thing that worked!!! Pressing the Return and Play/Pause is the only thing that finally paired the TV and remote.

I bought a floor model Samsung with no remote. Just got a factory remote and was not able to pair it with the tv. I tried everything on this thread. Then, while trying to see if the remote was even giving off a signal, I pointed it at my camera and held down the power button for at least 60 seconds. While looking for some kind of light to determine if the remote was even sending a signal, my tv came on. After that, I was able to access all functions of the new remote. Hope this helps someone else out.

Just had the same problem.  I tried all of the tricks in the forum and none worked.  I was about to get a replacement but then randomly discovered one of the buttons on the remote was jammed.  I un-jammed the button and it worked.

Oh nooooo... Fell asleep today for about 30 minutues while watching TV. After I woke up I noticed that the TV was off. I've tried everything, but the TV is off and the remote flashes red. I've changed the batteries, pressed the back button + up key and other methods, but nothing works. Help please.   UNK65KU6300FXZA

I had this same issue. What I did was pressed and held the power button on the remote until the TV shut off and turned back on. This fixed the issue for me.
