In the last few weeks, Samsung updated the OS to the Frame TV and a function that I regularly used is no longer available. I'm writing in hope that someone can suggest a workaround (or if Samsung engineers read this, to bring the function back).

I have an Apple TV 4K media streamer for my Frame 55" 2022 TV. I'm assuming that other media streamers such as Chromecast, Roku, etc. would have a similar behavior that I am getting now post-OS update.

Prior to the update, I would be watching TV using the Apple TV 4K steamer, conclude for the evening, power off the streamer with the Siri remote, and the Frame would instantly go into the Art Mode and display artwork for 30 minutes (my settings) before the Frame would go to sleep. Post upgrade, I power off the streamer (Apple tells me the streamer goes to sleep, not powering off), but instead of the Frame displaying artwork, it is searching for a media source:

My only recourse now is to use the Samsung remote and manually navigate to the Art Mode and select the artwork, a multi-step process.

Is anyone else who is using a streamer experiencing this, and do you have a workaround?

Thanks,
David

Same issue with me -- oddly only started three days ago. Following to see if anyone posts a solution!

So my TV works. I was on the phone with Samsung for ~ hour last month trying different settings until we got it right. I’m not certain exactly what we did to fix it, but it is stable, and works like it did prior to the firmware upgrade. Further, I shut off the auto update so the next firmware release won’t set me back (until I learn that Samsung fixed it).

In order to get to a solution that works for others, I’m willing to do a FaceTime or Zoom session with someone on this thread so we can try different settings to replicate the setting on my Samsung TV and Apple TV 4K. Once we uncover the correct settings, we can document it and share it with others. My success with a few screenshots can be found at the bottom of the first page in this thread (‎07-15-2023 03:33 PM).

Let me know if anyone is willing and we can set up a meet.

David

Been having the same issues here. Samsung sent a service person out to change my mainboard, which had an older firmware, and then the issue was gone!! So definitely a firmware issue. However, I deliberately turned off the 'Automatically Update' option as to not have the same issues with the 1520 update...but then woke up next morning, and it had updated itself.

There is a 1602 update available on the website now, but I cannot get it to install. The TV wont recognise the new update, and it wont install from a USB either. Samsung really know how to break things.

I had the same problem after the firmwareupdate on the Frame. After a lot of testing I found a solution. I changed the setting ‘settings - all settings - connection - manage external devices - Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC)’ to off. Now the frame will switch to artmode after I turnoff my appletv with the remote of the appletv. I tried several times and it seems to be stable. Let me know if this works for others as well.

Turning "Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC)’ to off" does not make my Frame switch to Art Mode.
No matter if I have Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC)’ to On or Off, I get this screen when I press 'Power' on my AppleTV remote.  I've tried EVERY setting combo on The Frame from this discussion thread and nothing fixes it.

My Frame+AppleTV+Art Mode worked perfectly prior to whatever firmware/software update The Frame had a few months ago. @Russel-

I'm running the latest firmware/software, Frame model# QN55LS03BAFXZA.
I also have the most recent AppleTV running the most recent TVOS 17 Beta.

We are having the same issue. It now has that error screen or switches to Samsung TV. I am really hoping they push out a fix for this issue.

It worked once last night, similar to what noname69420 stated, and then it continued to have the error screen after that.

There is a new firmware update. I can confirm it DOESN’T fix it. Nothing is fixed. Same thing is happening even with new firmware 1520! What a JOKE ON US!  Art on its own has exited and gone straight to HDMI 1 about 30 times now. Art mode on for 1-2 min then switches to HDMI ON ITS OWN WITH THIS NEW FIRMWARE. It won’t stay in art mode.

Having a similar issue, but when I use the Apple TV remote to turn everything off, it launches the Samsung TV app, and just never turns off at all… have to use the Samsung remote for Art mode or to turn the tv off

Hello fellow The Frame Folks,

:police_car_light::police_car_light:SOLUTION HERE:police_car_light::police_car_light:

Samsung released The Frame software / firmware update v. 1520 a few weeks ago. Amongst other changes (like moving the All Settings button to the end of the list), THEY BROKE HDMI-CEC by changing the way they handled external devices sleep/off commands.  Luckily, I have a solution (replay more of a workaround).

1.) Open The Frame Settings and select “All Settings”
2.) Select Connection
3.) Select External Device Manager
4.) TURN OFF (unselect) Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC)
5.) RESTART The Frame TV AND AppleTV 6.) Open AppleTV Settings.
7.) Select Remotes and Devices.
8.) If Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC) was correctly disabled, the previous “Control TVs and Receivers” option will change to “Turn On Your TV with Your Remote”

9.) Assure “Turn On Your TV with Your Remote” is ON

10.) IMPORTANT - you can now turn off your AppleTV with your AppleTV remote and it will go directly to ArtMode BUT YOU MUST POINT THE APPLETV REMOTE AT THE IR SENSOR.

Finally, I recommend turning off automatic updates on The Frame TV. I am hopeful Samsung will release a proper fix.  After which, I will cease updating in the future.

Cheers

This fix works for me; however, I no longer can control my Sonos soundbar (via HDMI) using either Samsung or Apple Remote. Any advice? Thank you.
