QLED and The Frame TVs

In the last few weeks, Samsung updated the OS to the Frame TV and a function that I regularly used is no longer available. I'm writing in hope that someone can suggest a workaround (or if Samsung engineers read this, to bring the function back).

I have an Apple TV 4K media streamer for my Frame 55" 2022 TV. I'm assuming that other media streamers such as Chromecast, Roku, etc. would have a similar behavior that I am getting now post-OS update.

Prior to the update, I would be watching TV using the Apple TV 4K steamer, conclude for the evening, power off the streamer with the Siri remote, and the Frame would instantly go into the Art Mode and display artwork for 30 minutes (my settings) before the Frame would go to sleep. Post upgrade, I power off the streamer (Apple tells me the streamer goes to sleep, not powering off), but instead of the Frame displaying artwork, it is searching for a media source:

My only recourse now is to use the Samsung remote and manually navigate to the Art Mode and select the artwork, a multi-step process.

Is anyone else who is using a streamer experiencing this, and do you have a workaround?

Thanks,
David

Just replying so I can say I am experiencing the same issue. Samsung Frame TV + AppleTV 4K. Everything worked great for a couple years until the Samsung firmware update.

Art mode, which is the main selling point of this TV, is now useless.

THIS IS A SAMSUNG BUG — SAMSUNG REPS, PLEASE ESCALATE AND FIX THIS.

I think I’ve figured it out, I’ve got The Frame working again with my Apple TV!

First, go into your Samsung TV settings, Input Device Manager— and TURN OFF Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC).

Then, go into your Apple TV 4K, go into Settings>Remotes and Devices>Home Cinema Control—and for the Option that reads ‘Turn On Your TV With Your Remote’— Select ‘ON’

Exit Settings and press and hold the power button of your Apple TV, and you’ll find that brings the Samsung The Frame TV back to wallpaper, and turns off your Apple TV.

Unfortunately this did not work for me. However when I turned the ATV off last night it went directly to art so maybe an update was pushed?

It happens once in a while, I confirm. Usually after the TV has been to SLEEP for a long time (with no ART displayed), it is as if there had been a powercycle and it works ONCE as usual. Then if you turn the TV on and try to turn it off with the Apple TV remote, the anomaly returns necessarily.

There hasn't been an update---You'd probably have to try restarting your Apple TV after doing these steps, and maybe unplugging the Samsung TV for 8-10 secs for good measure too. Just to clarify, when Apple TV goes to screen saver and then powers off, the issue remains--- but when you press the power button now on the Apple TV remote, it will power off and now go to Art Mode.

Time to jump on Social Media to warn others not to buy. Over 2 months without even an acknowledgment or an ETA of resolution is enough. I’m one of the ones that was told by local Samsung Support to “call Apple, they might have a fix”.

This is ridiculous, no response from Samsung. Time to return the tv under warranty and never a Samsung again.

FIXED!  Here is how to use the AppleTV4k controller exclusively for the Samsung frame  with return to Artmode!   Thanks to @Timdlr (that's his youtube handle).  I made a quick dirty video to show the solution.  Thanks to everyone here for their input!                                                                                  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CDENAUxgo6g

Problem solved! Thanks to Tim @timdlr #TheFrame #Samsung #LifestyleScreen @Samsung The latest software update v1520 broke most peoples setup for their Samsung Frame TV with AppleTV4k. The update meant that when the AppleTV4k was powered down, the TV did not return to Art mode. This video shows the

Sadly, this does not seem to work if you are using external speakers or a sound bar that require eARC or HDMI ARC to run. In my case, the Frame will not recognize or send signal to my soundbar unless Anynet+ is on.

My setup has the AppleTV 4K going directly into HDMI 1, and soundbar directly into HDMI 3 (eARC).

If anyone has ideas I’m all ears!
