Permanent fix for eARC Soundbars:

Goto All Settings \ Sound \ Expert Settings

Switch eARC to Auto

I've been using it like that for days and days - no drops!

=================================================================

Temporary fix for non-eARC Soundbars:

Goto

All Settings

Sound

Expert Settings

DiGital Output Format

Select PCM

Works for me. Couple of hours without a single drop.

Id suggest we each take this with your local Samsung distributor. The more pressure we put on them the better.

Original Story:

I have a per of QN90c 75" TV and a Q990B soundbar.
After the TV was updated I immediately noticed sound drops with my soundbar. The drops would come at random intervals. Resetting the TV does not help. Neither does changing sound modes. Output via TV Speakers seems to be working fine drops-free.
Searching online i found a few more similar cases with different Samsung TV models and Samsung soundbars affected by the same firmware.

Here's one:

issu with sound after last update - Version 1402.5 - S95C : r/S95C (reddit.com)

Sounds like an excuse to me.

Yesterday I had remote maintenance from Samsung Support, where the HDMI ports were reset and eARC was turned off in the settings. Unfortunately it didn't help. I only notice if I turn eARC on (auto) and off in the settings after switching on the TV, the sound dropouts are gone. Only when I turn the TV off and back on again and don't change the setting do the sound dropouts immediately come back. I'll call support again.

I have the sound dropouts since I updated my tv last night, didn't have issue before update.

Its clearly multichannel sound problem of internal apps. No factory reset of soundbar or tv will help. I even tried to connect soundbar with fiber (digital audio) ... same drops.

Same issue here, random audio drops with internal apps except youtube (that one is pcm only so makes sense) on my s95c qd oled.

It happens with hdmi (e)arc AND optical/Spdif connections.

So its clearly an issue with how samsung decodes dolby digital (plus).

Also noticed issues with PS5 connected direct via HDMi when Ps5 is set to Dolby atmos think it was working ok when set to Dolby Audio.

i think 1402.5 is revoked

there was a message saying current:1310 new:1402

now it only says 1310

when i press update it does not find new fw

Seems like toggling off/on eArc automatic in TV sound settings temporarily solve the issue (till you turn off the tv). Needs to be done every time you turn on the tv.
