I have a 2019 Samsung TV model Q60r. When I use any other dns other than my isp dns and quad 9, the Samsung TV doesn't connect. But it connects perfectly with my isp dns or quad 9. It doesn't matter if I just set the dns with the TV or my router. But if I try my Verizon Hotspot instead of my router and change the dns to any the TV connects perfectly. I have a Calix Gigaspire router but my previous Calix 844 also had this issue. What would cause this? This issue started about 6 months ago. I have high fiber optic internet. My roku doesn't have this issue. I'm just wondering what would cause this? Is anyone with a Samsung smart TV experiencing this issue? I have the latest firmware for the Samsung Q60R TV. It is 1420

Thanks. I think you are exactly right. i will probably just use my isp dns since it works perfectly with my Samsung TV. It is just not worth the trouble since my isp is already dealing with a bunch of issues dealing with hurricane destruction. One quick question my 2019 Samsung TV Q60R has been on firmware update for over 6 months and would like to know how long does Samsung usually provide firmware updates for their smart tv's. Since my TV is 5 years old is it probably finished with new firmware updates?

Have you reached out to your ISP.  The Verizon hot spot does not go through your ISP and it works so perhaps it's something on the ISP end.

It is definitely a Samsung issue. It started right after the last firmware update 1420. It only happens on my Samsung TV and no other devices. Samsung TV Plus isn't near as good as Roku which works perfectly and I use Roku 99.9% of the time but was just curious why Samsung has this issue.

I have no doubt that it is an incompatibility between your TV and ISP since it's working with Verizon.

I would call the ISP with the opinion it's their issue and see if they can resolve it.   If you're going in with them is that it's a Samsung issue then they won't even look into it since the customer thinks it's Samsung.

Even if it is a Samsung issue the ISP will have to work with them to resolve it but it could just as easily be the result of a security patch at the ISP which is now causing the incompatibility.

I assume you have already Tried this:

On your TV go to Settings->WiFi and delete the connection.  Now unplug your TV for 60 secs

Then go to the Router and unplug it for 30 seconds and then plug it back in.

Once the TV and router are back on, go to Settings->WiFi in the TV and find the name of the router connection and connect .

Most broadband providers will tell you to power cycle the fiber connection to the input of your router if you have oe as well.

I don't have an answer to that and I spend some time Googling for it.  If I were a betting man I'd think the TV was nearing the end of support however I had a 2013 Samsung Smart TV that received at least Smart Hub updates well beyond 5 years.

All OEMs has a responsibility to maintain parts for like 5 years after EOL and I would assume that if something came up that was critical they would push out a fix right up to EOL.... But that's just my opinion.
