My Samsung Messages app keeps closing. I've restarted my phone multiple times. I've gone to Settings > App Settings > Messages > Storage and hit Clear cache and Clear data. When I do this, the space used for cache and data go down to 0, but then immediately go back up to the original storage amounts when I reopen Messages.
I found a previous conversation about Messages crashing in Dec 2023 and tried following the instructions but when I held down the power button and volume up with the phone turned off, the phone restarted as normal, even though I held them down until after the Samsung logo disappeared.
If I can't fix it, can I install a different app for
My Google storage is 94% full. Could that be connected?
I spent over 1-1/2 with 2 separate tech support at Samsung AND T-Mobile with -0- results. I'm using Google Massage for now too. It happened today in the afternoon
Mine (different model) doing the same thing all of a sudden tonight. Messenger comes on, click on contact, that screen comes up and in a couple seconds app crashes.
So it looks like it's happening on a lot of different devices. I have an A52 5g and it's doing it to me too. But the weird thing is that it doesn't do it on my tablet, is it just the update then?
There's a work around that has been helpful for some people - rather than open the message thread you are trying to respond to, click the compose icon and start your message there. Apparently it doesn't crash that way.
I just tried it, and you are 100% correct. It did NOT crash, but as soon as I try to replay to a text within 2~3 secs it crashes and closes the app. So Composing DOES WORK. Thank you
M S24-Ultra started doing that today 5/28/24 in the afternoon too.....I have called Samsung AND T-Mobile with -0- help and use. I remember doing App updates which was just a handful of Google Apps, roughly about 5 apps(NOTHING from Samsung or SMS Message......etc.). Not sure Google Apps updates would affect Samsung SMS default message...I'm at a loss with no fix. Using Google Messages right now.
