Because, quote lol The S23 Ultra uses an AMOLED display, which is generally better suited for HDR than the LCD display found in the Tab S9 series. AMOLED displays offer higher contrast ratios and deeper blacks, which are essential for HDR.

Quote from google "The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra has a 14.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a resolution of 2,960 x 1,848 pixels and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. It has a peak brightness of 930 nits and an effective aspect ratio of 16:10. The display also supports HDR10+. "

By the way, all Galaxy Tab S9 series have 2x AMOLED displays, starting from the base model.

The maximum resolution on the Tab S9 display is the resolution of the actual Tab S9 Display.  It is less than 4k.  Now connect an external 4k display to that same tablet and start your movie app from that display and you will get that video in 4k resolution.

Looking at your Tab display as opposed to the external 4k display I doubt that wou would be able to tell the difference... I can't with mine.

Also, you can get a graphic display of your resolution by turning on Developer Options->GPU Watch.

Consider PPI on the devices when factoring your viewing experience. 3840x2160 on a 75" TV PPI calculates to 58.74. Tab S9 Ultra with it's 2960 x 1848 pixels on its 14.7" screen has a PPI of 237.38.

There's no comparison here. Even at less than 4k native, the density of pixels that are refreshing at 120hz will still provide a better viewing experience.
