My partner has a new Tab A9+, to replace her older Tab A 10.1. She uses the Samsung email app on both devices. However, on the newer tablet it takes a lot longer to download recent messages. On the old tablet new messages are present which dont appear on the new device sometimes until hours later. Both devices are set to auto download new messages immediately.

Are they using Outlook or Microsoft 365 email by chance? I was using Samsung Mail happily for a while for my work email access, but about 3 weeks ago or so, it stopped receiving email and asked to re-authenticate, but every time I tried it was failing. After some searching, I saw others on Microsoft's forums complaining about the same issue. It appears that it was something that Microsoft changed on their end that affected how it works with Samsung Mail, specifically. If this is the case, I haven't found a solution, and switched to Outlook (which is honestly pretty nice on mobile), and it works fine.

@Geno71

Thanks for responding. Yes, she does use have an Outlook email address, but this can't be the issue as Samsung Mail app is used on both tablets and the dalay only occurs for the newer one. I know about the Microsoft issue as I had to upgrade the email app on my laptop to get it to work. Your response has made me think about comparing app versions and settings between the two tablets.

I'd definitely compare the versions, that's a good next step. I don't know what's going on with Microsoft lately, my calendar also stopped syncing. In Samsung Calendar and third party apps. It syncs the first time as soon as it's set up, then doesn't update, so I'm forced to remove the account and re add to get it to sync, which it still only does at that initial set up, and never again. At this point I'm waiting it out to see if it resolved itself as the email and calendar issues started at the same time, so I assume they're related. And once again, both work perfectly fine in the Outlook app, but I need a good widget for my calendar which Outlook doesn't have.

My suggestion copy the exact settings from one app to the other.Make sure like everything's exactly the same.And then your one should be faster

Update

Mail app on old tablet is version 6.1.90.16

On new tablet it is version 6.1.97.1

All other settings appear to be the same.

Still getting significant delays updating messages for Outlook.com email address on newer tablet which has later version of Samsung mail app compared to older tablet. Why would that be?

Next step is to try using Gmail app on both devices to compare performance.
