Is there a way to turn off auto dispenser on washer

Just purchased a washer model WA55A7700AV with an automatic detergent and fabric softener dispenser.  Once it was turned on, there doesn't seem to be a way to turn it off.  We don't use fabric softener in all our laundry.  The expert chats suggestion was to dump the tray before running that cycle which seems to be extremely inconvenient.  Other models can be turned off.  Anyone find a solution (besides resetting the machine back to factory defaults)?

That doesn't apply to this model.  No obvious option for turning off the dispenser, only to set dispense level to 1, 2, or 3.

I understand how important this feature is to you. Regrettably, this particular dispenser does not have the auto turn off.
