How is it, my phone shows 5g in the Status Bar

I have a Galaxy Note 20 512gb 5g phone. I have the Nationwide Talk and Text Plan, dating from about the time the Ancient Romans were around. 

It is not a 5g Plan. How is it, my phone shows 5g in the Status Bar?

What is technically happening in the brain of my phone?

If I go to Settings I see -112 dbm 28 asu LTE.

What the heck does that mean?

Is it like Golf where a low number is good?

My Carrier recently did upgrades in my area.

I'm trying to figure out if that is a stronger signal.

It's means 4g lte, meaning it is a bit slower than five 5g, but it is ok for now until they discontinued it

@TigerTanaka I would guess that as part of your carrier's upgrades in the area they enabled 5G. Sometimes it's easier to just turn on a new feature for everyone rather than gating it for only some.

No. I previously lived in an area with a much larger population. There the 5g Symbol also popped up.
I think it's just some and-or gate in the phone motherboard is interpreting falsely that I have a 5g signal when in fact it's only capable due to Plan of receiving a 4g LTE signal

Some carriers labeled their 4g LTE network as 5g towards the "end" of 4g.  These signals were slightly faster, but not technically 5g.
