HELP! This morning I awoke to find that all of my old text messages on my Samsung 9+ - with the exception of the few that were starred - have disappeared. I have cleared the cache and restarted the phone several times, but no luck. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Many, many thanks!!

If you're content to give into Fruit Phone peer pressure instead of using a different messaging app (I use Textra), then I wish you well and hope you enjoy your iPhone. My iPhone user family & friends occasionally rib me for using Android - I rib them right back about enjoying their walled garden. My S24 Ultra (and the S23 Ultra before it) "just works" but across multiple manufacturers. As I'd said, if your problem with missing messages and threads isn't with the cell provider, you can try a new text app. Otherwise, I hope your iPhone solves your issues.

It's been my experience that cell service reps are generally no smarter than the average user. You might want to check Google Play Store and try the highest rated apps... if one doesn't work out for you, try another. It might take awhile but you'll find the apps that work best for YOU. And tell your iPhone friends and family that if they keep joking with you about texting them blobs, you'll just be inclined to text them MORE blobs until they come to the dark side šŸ˜

I always ditch the Samsung native apps and replace them with their Google equivalents. Samsung themselves are going to replace their text app with Google's stock Messages RCS next year. In fact, Google even makes a Samsung-specific version of their Messages app now. I used it on my S21 and now use it on my S24.

I don't leave important numbers and pictures on my texts, if they are that important, I download them when I get them because stuff happens

I've tried Google messages. The verizon tech swore that weighs solve the problem. I've tried all three...
These phones suck. None of this happens on any of the families iPhone. Not to mention that when I send a video taken by the S23, it looks like fuzzy **bleep**.
No.... I surrender.

@Charimanb You are using Samsung Messages I presume, have you checked your settings and made sure delete old messages has not been enable. Have you checked your trash bin to look for these messages.

Have you tried to switch to Google Messages and see if the missing messages repopulate in Google Messages.

If all of your friends and family have Iphones ask them to make sure they are running ios 18 and turn on RSC in iMessages settings. It will only work if you switch to Google Messages.

I've used Samsung messages, Google messages, and message plus.... happens with all. In convinced it's a bad model. No one has been able to find or texture lost messages. Thanks for caring

Did you asked them to replace the phone to see if it was just something about that phone? I always asked to have my phone replaced when having issues and if it still continues then I would ditch the phone for another brand of Android cause I love Android lol šŸ˜‚
