Hi All
I've just got my S24+ today to upgrade my trusty but ageing S10+ having not strayed from Samsung for almost 10 years. Naturally I was hoping it would be an upgrade in all departments but although on the whole it is, there's several annoying and unexpected downgrades that are making me seriously question whether it's actually worth spending quite a bit of money to change.
Firstly, the screen although pin sharp is really washed out. Even in vivid mode the colours are dull and the blacks are significantly more grey than the S10 screen, and even look washed out when put alongside my wife's budget spec A52! I've played around with brightness and colour tone etc but I can't dial it out, and my cousin who's got an S24 Ultra said exactly the same when comparing it against the S22 it's replacing.
Then there's some bizarre features missing from OneUI 6.1, the ones I've noticed so far are specifically in the Always On Display settings. I use AOD to display as a bedside clock, with my S10 and also in OneUI 6.0 / Android 14 on the A52 you can rotate the AOD to landscape orientation and control the brightness, you could even do the latter from the AOD lock screen by tapping twice on the clock to access the brightness slider. In OneUI 6.1 unless I'm missing something it seems all that functionality is missing, the brightness of the AOD is linked to the main screen brightness setting which is far too bright for overnight use, and you can't set it to landscape mode which I'd prefer when on it's horizontal night stand next to the bed. Why this functionality would be omitted I have no idea, but it's really annoying! Please someone enlighten me to some hidden menu somewhere that fixes all these issues?! š

Galaxy S24I don't know the answer, but good question. I still have my S22+ here and am wanting to return the S24+ because of the disappointing display (profile or not). I bet they wouldn't let you have your old one, but perhaps they will if they have a logistic process for it (I doubt it).

Galaxy S24Hi, if you sent it already you will not be able to get it back. They're us a good chance if it's still on the way and you contact the FedEx ASAP (I did it once and it worked). After it's arrived at Samsung warehouse, it is gone. You will get store credit for the amount mentioned in trade in program.
Sorry for the bad news. Another disappointment from the Samsung. My s24 ultra is packed and going back tomorrow.

Galaxy S24So apparently, at the beginning of this week, we will get the first update! Seen this on Samsung's Facebook page, in the country I live. I will translate:
The guys comment:
"I'm still trying to understand how Samsung could mess the software related to the colors of the display so badly, being a photographer it's impossible to use the phone for editing at the moment:)) it feels like a joke! Does it seem like a good time to switch to the iPhone and make a return? After decades of Samsung usage?
Samsung's response:
"Under certain conditions, some terminals may have some color rendering problems. However, this bug will be removed with the next system update that will be released early next week. Keep an eye on us!"

Galaxy S24You need to tell this Representative that Samsung needs to make a world-wide statement about this, if they want to prevent people from sending their S24's back for refund. Because we've learned not to trust any Facebook or Forum post regarding such issues. Still, not a very inspiring post there, because it says "some devices" when in fact I think this issue is across the board on all S24's.

Galaxy S24I have upgraded from an s20+ and the colours/screen are so much better on that, they just pop so much more, the s24 ultra looks like the old phone! How is this possible?! I only have a couple of days left to send my trade in to samsung and I don't know what to do now as don't know whether this is a fixable issue and whether samsung will fix it in an update or are we stuck with this screen? So annoying! Please fix this samsung!

Galaxy S24You can initiate a return and extend the return period by another two weeks. Personally, I'm hoping Samsung fixex this, sadly, they probably wont.

Galaxy S24Can you also extend the trade-in period the same way? Because I'm holding off sending my S22+ for trade-in in case they do fix this issue, but I'm running out of time with only 5 or 6 days to go.

Galaxy S24If it's fixed, I'm planning on calling samsung support, and have them cancel my return and validate my exchange.
