Galaxy S24Hi All
I've just got my S24+ today to upgrade my trusty but ageing S10+ having not strayed from Samsung for almost 10 years. Naturally I was hoping it would be an upgrade in all departments but although on the whole it is, there's several annoying and unexpected downgrades that are making me seriously question whether it's actually worth spending quite a bit of money to change.
Firstly, the screen although pin sharp is really washed out. Even in vivid mode the colours are dull and the blacks are significantly more grey than the S10 screen, and even look washed out when put alongside my wife's budget spec A52! I've played around with brightness and colour tone etc but I can't dial it out, and my cousin who's got an S24 Ultra said exactly the same when comparing it against the S22 it's replacing.
Then there's some bizarre features missing from OneUI 6.1, the ones I've noticed so far are specifically in the Always On Display settings. I use AOD to display as a bedside clock, with my S10 and also in OneUI 6.0 / Android 14 on the A52 you can rotate the AOD to landscape orientation and control the brightness, you could even do the latter from the AOD lock screen by tapping twice on the clock to access the brightness slider. In OneUI 6.1 unless I'm missing something it seems all that functionality is missing, the brightness of the AOD is linked to the main screen brightness setting which is far too bright for overnight use, and you can't set it to landscape mode which I'd prefer when on it's horizontal night stand next to the bed. Why this functionality would be omitted I have no idea, but it's really annoying! Please someone enlighten me to some hidden menu somewhere that fixes all these issues?! š

Galaxy S24hello guys
The space is empty so that's good to hear my opinion I hope it reaches to Samsung.
I was upset with the S24U lack of color saturation in Natural mode, so I also bought an iPhone 15pm to try it out
But I have testing tools so I took measurements of the iPhone 15pm Display and it also had the same problem
So I felt good Because they are the two companies with the largest market share, and I do not have less experience compared to others
But I hope that Samsung will make the Natural mode more accurate, improve color saturation correctly, and also give us beautiful capabilities like the TV, such as controlling gamma 2.2 or 2.4 as desired.
My measurements show that both Apple and Samsung phones have a rise gamma of 2.2 and do not track the 2.2 target well. They all have a gamma of 2.0 and less.
But I hope that Samsung will strive to outperform Apple and fix this problem for those who like natural mode and natural colors like me

Galaxy S24Even with the Feb and March updates the display on this phone is awful. Its capable of producing vibrancy and colours as the S23 but Samsung has disabled it. If you open Instagram and scroll for a few seconds, you can visibly see the display get brighter and more vibrant and if you pull down the notification center while having Instagram opened you can see the icons are more vibrant, if you close Instagram and quickly pull down the notifications you can see the colours and vibrancy disappear. Samsung has a lot of work to do with the Software to fix this, I've never been so disappointed in a phone and I've had every S series since the S2.

Galaxy S24Did you try the Vividness Option at Advanced Settings?
It came with the Feb 23rd software update so you must have that installed on your phone.

Galaxy S24Go to apps, display, make sure adaptive color tone and eye comfort shield are toggle off.
Next, go to screen mode, set to vivid, more settings. There are 3 levels of vividness, pick the one you like the best.

Galaxy S24The thing is the S23 Ultra had a brighter vivid. I think that's what Samsung is going to tune the brightness of the vivid slider.

Galaxy S24These you tube guys only say anything for views and money. One day they love the phone, the next day they don't. Wait til samsung announces official updates. These reactors on you tube are all phoneys, at least most of them. Most of them use iPhones to record there videos . I hope your right that where getting a better improvement on the slider, but according to that last big update, I think we will only see more advancement in the AI in the future. I heard nothing solid about Vivid slider in the next update.
But let's wait for Samsung to release what where getting next!
