Unable to back up Galaxy watches manually on One UI 5, backs up via Smart Switch

Why in the world would you take away the ability to back up our watches manually in the Wearable app? Make it make sense, I have to wait for what is now "PERIODICALLY" to back up my watch, how often is periodically? If you switch to store backups to Samsung Cloud, how does that work, when does that happen?

If anyone knows the answer please let me know!

The ability to manually backup watches was removed with the One UI Watch 5 update. I really hope Samsung brings this functionality back!

To upgrade to a new watch everything is in your phone when you set it up everything will work

I don't know what data your wishing to backup. Your watch is an accessory to your phone, so most the data is stored there.

If your wanting to backup the personization settings, I understand that you can do that with the Smart Switch app.

Ok please help me understand how to backup my galaxy watch 5 pro? I don't see smart switch available I don't see the option in the app or on watch either.. so how do we back up our device? It was so simple before the update. Now nothing..

For real I had a similar problem and they just told me to call the technician. They couldn't do anything just wait for the update

I have that but I still keep getting messages that my watch hasn't been backed up in 7 days

But I WANT to backup my watch manually when I desire, because this automatic nonsense didn’t do a backup for 20 days now. I’ve already had 5 different models of Samsung watches. The watch 4 & 5 i still own will be the last ones and I’ll no longer buy another. This is utterly ridiculous! I have Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra and there’s no option for manual backup.

Having exactly the same issue, my A54 is not backing up my Watch5, doesn't matter if my watch is over 30% charge or not, if my phone is charging, not charging (but over 90% battery!), the watch simply refuses to backup.  I've tried switching the watch off and back on, switching off and back on the phone (starting to sound like the IT Crowd), but it just doesn't work.

Samsung really need to release a fix ASAP.
