Unable to back up Galaxy watches manually on One UI 5, backs up via Smart Switch

Why in the world would you take away the ability to back up our watches manually in the Wearable app? Make it make sense, I have to wait for what is now "PERIODICALLY" to back up my watch, how often is periodically? If you switch to store backups to Samsung Cloud, how does that work, when does that happen?

If anyone knows the answer please let me know!

First off, do you have the watch paired with a Samsung phone? I assume so, but I have to ask lol.

Just making sure you don't have another phone you use as a secondary. Many people I know have Pixels also. This is very odd. Like you mentioned on another post, waiting a few more days to see if this eventually works might be prudent. Ensure that battery saving modes are off and all data restrictions are disabled. Make sure your watch and phone are well above the 30% cut off.

To ensure the reliability of backups I would try turning on saving them to Samsung account storage.

It's much more reliable especially if you need to reset your phone or switch devices.

I did that yesterday but still (unfortunately) didn't get a backup.

That is pretty strange, you may want to reach out to support and diagnostics, I had issues before I did that, switching between a couple phones and it being stuck on one from a year ago.

Maybe there is an issue with Samsung storage? Though watch backups are generally small

I'll give it another day or two. Thankfully I'm not one who stores much on the watch or would be devastated if I didn't have a good solid backup. 🙂 If I don't get it working by this weekend or someone can't tell me what I've done wrong I'll take some additional steps for help.

i have it saved to samsung storage, but right above it , it says last back up, and it says no backup for this watch

Last night I even tried connecting it to WiFi and still didn't get a backup. This is interesting.
