Samsung 50" TV (budget of £1000) looking for recommendations

Hi, I'm seeking to buy a 50" TV, settled on Samsung. I have a budget of £1000.

My two main uses are:

- gaming - I have a PS4 and PS3

- watching downloaded films and TV series in various formats i.e. MKV, MP4, AVI etc

So I need the TV to be able to read ALL video formats, if I can download an app like VLC that will work fine.

I don't really watch TV as such, i.e. live TV or Netflix.
