My Samsung Messages app keeps closing. I've restarted my phone multiple times. I've gone to Settings > App Settings > Messages > Storage and hit Clear cache and Clear data. When I do this, the space used for cache and data go down to 0, but then immediately go back up to the original storage amounts when I reopen Messages.
I found a previous conversation about Messages crashing in Dec 2023 and tried following the instructions but when I held down the power button and volume up with the phone turned off, the phone restarted as normal, even though I held them down until after the Samsung logo disappeared.

So this is a Samsung issue the provider wont help is that what I am understanding here. My messages were working fine and i got an update that I kept cancelling then yesterday it updated on its own and now crashing texts
I think it's because Google Messages got installed (without my doing) that is causing Samsung Messages to crash! So, no I won't use it and will go back to Textra.
You're going to switch to Google when it's their app causing android messages to mess up. **bleep** no. That's probably their plan so they can continue to spy on everyone like they have always done. Your data isn't safe at all with Google. This is the stupidest post. "OH yeah just use Google messages" when they are the problem for this issue
