Unable to print multiple copies from Chromebook 2 to HP 8139e printer

We’re trying to print to an HP 8139e printer from our Galaxy Chromebook 2. When the default number of copies in the printer’s settings is set to 1, if we try to print from Chromebook and set copies to 3 in the Print dialog on the laptop, the printer will print one copy, eject a blank page, and say it's done - even though the status popup on the Chromebook states "Printing 3 copies…". This does not happen when printing from MacBook.
 
If we change the default to say 2 copies, and then try to print the same 3 copies from Chromebook, it properly prints 3 copies and does not eject a blank page after - which is more than the default setting of 2 pages.
 
If default=2 and I try to print 1 copy, it prints 1 copy and ejects a blank page.
 
If default=3 and I try to print 2 copies, it prints 2 copies and ejects a blank page.
 
So from Chromebook, it doesn't honor/enforce the default number of copies, and it also doesn't always honor the number of copies requested via the Print dialog, and that behavior is different based on what we set the default number of copies to.
 
After several hours on a call with HP Support, escalation to their Smart Friend paid support, and several transfers to different people, I was finally told to check with Samsung about it  - even though this worked fine with our HP 8035 and didn't become an issue until we had to replace it with the 8139.
 
We tried deleting and re-adding the printer, ensured ChromeOS is up-to-date, restarted both the Chromebook and the printer, still seeing the issue.

It seems there's a compatibility issue between the Chromebook and the HP 8139e printer regarding printing multiple copies. The printer doesn't consistently honor the default number of copies or the copies requested via the Print dialog on the Chromebook. This behavior varies based on the default number of copies set on the printer. Despite troubleshooting efforts with HP Support and ensuring ChromeOS is up-to-date, the issue persists. Thanks Charles. Are you saying that you also recreated this issue, or just summarizing my issue?

I did reach out to Samsung Support, and they said "HP Support now handles all of our printer support" - so I'm getting the run-around.

I emailed my escalation contact at HP Support about this a few times now, and no response.
