sounds like the digitizer is malfunctioning, and if that's the case, then replacing is your only option

You can try these few steps:

Do the symptoms occur when your device is in safe mode?

Let's try putting the device in Safe mode to determine if there are external factors that cause this symptom. This step will temporarily disable all your third-party apps, but none of your personal data will be deleted. Your customization settings (Wallpaper, Themes, et cetera) will be reset to default once you exit this mode. https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00062983/

You can also try wiping the system cache partition.

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
  3. When the Android logo displays, release all three keys.
  4. An 'Installing system update' message will show for 30 - 60 seconds before the Android system recovery menu options appear.
  5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition.
  6. Press the Power key to select.
  7. Press the Volume down key to highlight yes, them, and press the Power key to select.
  8. When the wipe cache partition is complete, the Reboot system now is highlighted.
  9. Press the Power key to restart the device.

If you are still experiencing the same symptoms after trying the steps above, you can try fully backing up the device and perform a factory reset. I know this may not be the ideal step to take but this will reset the device back to its factory settings.

If troubleshooting is not helpful, we recommend having the phone evaluated at an authorized service center. You can use the following link to find a list of service centers in the U.S. that can do the repair:  https://www.samsung.com/us/support/service/ or by contacting customer support at 1-800-726-7864.
