I just got the Q990C and it seems to operate correctly except when in Standard setting. In this setting, only the front Soundbar plays, the rear speakers are silent. I'm not sure whether or not the woofer is playing, but I suspect it isn't because the sound from the soundbar is pretty thin and unimpressive. I read many people prefer the Standard setting which I find puzzling if the rear speakers (and maybe the woofer) don't operate. In Surround and Adaptive everything works and sounds great. Standard, not so much.

Is my system defective?

Hello! @MAS_VA  Thank you so much for posting about this. I completely understand your concerns with this issue. The standard settings on some soundbars, including the Samsung models, may focus on delivering a stereo sound experience, which may only involve the front speaker and minimal use of the subwoofer or rear speakers. This could be why you aren't hearing much from the rear speakers in this mode.

To check if the system is properly configured, you can go through the sound settings in the soundbar menu to ensure everything is set up correctly for the standard mode. You can also check to see if there is a firmware update for the soundbar. Here's a link you might find helpful: https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00082755/

Please let me know if this helps
