Hello,

I have issues with having eARC working between S90C Samsung TV and Yamaha receiver RX-A2A (and also RX-V4A). I tried with different HDMI cables and different configurations found on internet and nothing worked. The irony was that initially eARC was working fine, but after some time it stopped working. After more investigations, I found that the issue comes from updating firmware on the Yamaha receiver. With default firmware everything works, but after updating the firmware on the receiver, eARC stops working.

I'd like to ask Samsung team to PLEASE recognize the new firmware and updates of Yamaha receivers and make them work again.

 

BTW, the receiver is directly connected to the TV and there is no middle box , or any other boxes, in between the two.

A more likely positive outcome scenario is that you submit a bug report to Yamaha and ask them to be compatible with the Samsung TV.  Samsung has no insight into what Yahama did to it's firmware and it's up Yahama to either fix their firmware or to contact Samsung and work together on the issue. 

Not pointing the finger but Samsung did not write the Yamaha firmware.

For anyone who might read this topic later, this is the answer I received from Yamaha support:

 

"""The first step to making ARC work is to connect HDMI OUT (ARC) on the receiver to an input on your TV that is also labeled "ARC" (ARC to ARC). After connecting the cable, check the following settings:

1) On the remote, press 'SETUP' to display the on-screen menu
2) Arrow down to "HDMI" and press 'ENTER'
3) Set "HDMI Control" to ON. If it's already on, turn it OFF then back ON
4) Set "ARC" to ON

After that, you'll need to enable the CEC feature in your TV. This might is called "Anynet+" on Samsung TVs. Turn this setting ON. If it's already on, turn it off then back on. Also check your TV's "sound output" setting, and see if it can be set to "Receiver" or "HDMI ARC", as opposed to "TV Speakers" or "Optical".

If that doesn't get it working, you can try a few more things:

-Replace the HDMI cable that links the receiver to the TV. If that cable is more than 15' long, try a shorter one.
-Unplug the TV and receiver from their power outlets for a couple of minutes
-Reset the TV to factory defaults
-Test the receiver with another ARC-compatible TV (if available)
-Reset the receiver to factory defaults

If none of those help, you might consider disabling the ARC feature and running an optical audio cable from the TV to the receiver."""

 

I tried the steps, and on one of my receivers (RX-A2A) eARC started working again. However, the other receiver (RX-V4A) has the issue persisting. Still, looking forward to find a solution for it. I hope this information can help someone with this issue.

Did you try turning the hdmi-eArc mode to: OFF ? 
if set to ‘auto’ the current firmware and previous, only sends out a stereo pcm signal. Also try setting the output format to: pass-through. Hope this helps
