My 5700 is doing the same.  But I don't have auto-updates on

Same here, I turned off updates a while back because the updates were making my players PC connection un-usable.  But while watching Amazon on my BD yesterday it started making horrible audio noises and freezing up. Today, it wont stay on for more than 5 seconds then reboots ....forever.

I've got two of these same models in my household, and they both started having the same problem within a couple days off each other. Definitely something coming through the internet connection.

Same, BD-JM57C stopped working. Samsung customer support told me it had to be serviced by them, and completely shut down all questions about how and why it happened and if they will figure out a solution.

Also if anyone has a disc stuck in there the only way I found to get it out is to hit eject on the remote

Funny ours is doing the same thing started on 6/17/2020. Powering off and on. They did something on their end!

I'm another BD-J5900 user who is having the same problem. I PM'd Samsung Gill yesterday and am waiting for a reply. My player is still making the noise even though I unplugged it. Very weird.
